Oooh! Double shot!
I disagree with you.
The joys of Freedom of Speech. That's what allows you to say this.
This IS the problem with freedom of speech, freedom of religion and democracy. If it weren’t for these things, Fred and his fanatics would not be able to spread their false teachings and many lives would have been saved.
So, instead, you'd have the world live in a Theocratic nanny state? And what of dissenters, then? Blood will be spilled either way. There is no way of avoiding it. It's a cold reality, but a reality nonetheless. I'd rather blood be spilled in exercising freedom, than enforcing a system I do not agree with. Also, for the record, it's those self-same freedoms you're denouncing that permit you to spout off about Fred and his merry band of monsters.
God didn't ordinate Democracy. It was the Pagan homosexual Greeks who introduced this blasphemous system which lays the power of the state in the hands of the stupid majority.
Firstly, Pagan isn't a catch all religion. The Greeks had their own religion, as do most that you lump into that category. Second, they introduced the idea, yes. However, it has been refined to protect all as best as can be done.
(Real) Israel was ruled by a holy dictatorship installed and supported by God.
And how do you propose deciding who is really God's chosen, and who's not just saying they are?
The Holy Inquisition at the Middle Ages, while not punishing people for merely following false teachings, would trial anyone who tried to spread his or her corrupt teachings.
And who decides what teachings are false and corrupt? Such power in the hands of a single, or small group of men INVARIABLY leads to corruption.
Pope Gregory XVI even condemned democracy at some point, I think.
That's nice.
No, these liberal teachings are bad and ungodly. And they should be fought wherever they appear.
Good luck getting the support you desire to do this. People do not readily give up Freedoms.
A Catholic theocracy, like the Papal States before 1870, would be the ideal system.
Ah, there we go. You're not advocating A Theocracy, you're advocating YOUR theocracy. Here's a hint. Never suggest a system unless you're willing to live at the bottom rung of it.
Check what the Catholic Church did at Beziers in 1209:
You should be thankful that the Holy Inquisition saved you from the satanistic Catahrs, the Valdenses and the other cults, otherwise most of you would worship Satan.
Uh-huh...so as opposed to one group of people telling us what to believe, we have another. I'm supposed to see the difference?
Phelps is doing a great job, he's showing people what lies at the bottom of the religious obsession with 'deviants'.
This, I agree on. However, you just don't seem to see that you're doing much the same, just on a smaller scale, and a different pet peeve.
I don't think they even are counted as Christians. The JW and the Mormons aren't Christians according to Chatechism.
BIBLE FIGHT! You all worship the same God, just in different ways. Deal with it. And until someone steps forward, and formally denounces/excommunicates/whatever Phelps, he will remain counted towards your numbers.
Leave the US.
I'm in Stockholm. :P
So why are you telling us how we should run things? Hell, Sweden is far more secular than the States, and runs far smoother, as far as I know. How does that stand up for your Theocracy is Better argument?
I don't think anybody has serious advocated ultramontanism since the 1870s.
Pope Pius X was a very conservative Catholic, we need more Pontiffs like them.
If that's how you feel, great! Don't start whining when you numbers start dwindling.
I highly doubt that theocracy was what he ordained.
Theocracy, or a holy monarchy.
Just because you slap the label "Holy" on something doesn't automatically make it good. Monarchy is a hugely faulty system rife with corruption. The only people who benefit from it are the ones on top of the heap.
could you remember at what point of his life Pope Gregory XVI condemned democracy
Pope Gregory XVI's 1832 Encyclical "On Liberalism and Religious Indifferentism".
Again. That's nice. Now what makes this system so much better than Democracy?
And I would appreciate if you could stop insulting me and my Catholic brethren? Thank you!
I wouldn't dream of condemning all Catholics. You, on the other hand, I can comfortably say, I would not trust you with a potato gun, let alone authority over a country, and thank whatever entity may be listening you will never gain any power whatsoever.
