(In response to ads appearing on DC busses: "Why believe in a god? Just be good for goodness' sake")
---------------------------------------------------------
This makes me so sick... Unfortunately though, we know the world is in for MUCH darker times than this, but guys... seeing it happen, seeing the persecution begin... this creates a pain inside me! We must pray for each other and hold each other up in these times...
Sites like this certainly help too my friends! I praise God for this fellowship daily!

seeing the persecution begin
How is this persecution? Get over yourself already.
There's a house down the street with a sign that says "JESUS LOVES YOU!"
I guess non-Christians are being persecuted too.
So unless we let these idiots do whatever they want, whenever they want, however they want, regardless of the rights of others it's persecution. Have I got that right?
This is essentially how I live my life. I do no harm to anyone. Basically live and let live. I donate to the needy, volunteer my time when I can, and take care of friends and family, all without the belief in a god. Christians do not have the monopoly on goodness.
Morality didn't come from a book and certainly not the Bible. Moral rules existed before the Bible.
If a bus ad questioning belief in god makes you sick, I would consider seeking professional help. Is your faith so weak that it cannot tolerate even this slight affront?
seeing it happen, seeing the persecution begin...
When we start to throw you into mass gassing chambers, THEN you can cry persecution.
Until then, STFU.
Haha, I read that thread, those people are loons. "Even so come Lord Jesus."
But it's also sad :
"but I cannot believe someone like this would be written in the Book of Life."
Amazing what you can convince people to believe!
Given the beahvior of modern Christians, I have a feeling that the persecution of the early Christians in ancient Rome was more-or-less a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Be obnoxious enough and whine about persecution often enough, and eventually someone'll take you up on the offer.

1. To oppress or harass with ill-treatment, especially because of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or beliefs.
2. To annoy persistently; bother.
Personally I think the busses are silly, but how in the hell you can equate that to persecution mystifies me. I guess you would consider someone throwing back a "chick tract" and hitting your feet minor martyrdom. You know though you could be on to something. Can all us non-fundie Christians, atheists, agnostics, and members of other religions claim persecution because the busses in my town had ads for that awful money-grubbing scammer Joyce Meyer on the side them for about a month before she came?
Umm, so, encouraging people to be good for goodness sake is now persecution? But, doesn't that contradict the message? I think my brain just imploded
So being good, unless it is done at swordpoint, makes you sick?
You are into sadomasicism, aren't you?
"seeing it happen, seeing the persecution begin..."
You people have no fucking clue what persecution is. It's just another buzz word to be thrown around to make you sound like you're saying something profound.
The world has already seen much darker times than this. The Dark Ages, for instance. You know, when Christianity ruled us, we called it 'the Dark Ages'. This is not a coincidence.
Compared to, say, the billboards that read:
"Don't make me come down there.
- God"
Which actually come off as a threat. Yeah, I guess that's persecution, too.
Wow, um, is that true?
That's awesome. I want to see ads like that.
I hate when people insist that morality is based on religion. I try so hard to be a good person...because I know it's the right thing to do, duh, and NOT because I'm afraid to piss off a deity.
Since you Rapture Retards are such great supporters of Israel, I invite you to go to Jerusalem and explain to someone there just how terribly you are being persecuted.
To make it especially educational for you, go to a place called "Yad Vashem", and find someone over the age of eighty or so. I am sure they will be shocked by the depths of your suffering.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
