If we showed to these people that the 2 religions are essentially the same, would they explode? Would this leave behind only the liberal and accepting Christians and Muslims? If so, we should do this!

I've got news for you. Religion is essentially all the same, no matter where you go, or what you do. The Quoran is "the book of peace", and "Islam" means "peace". Christians do, and have done, terrible things, as have Muslims, as haev Jews, as have Aztecs, as have Hindus, etc.
