Oh I can hear the screaming already. Why did I say Islam isn't a religion?

Religion, of every kind is based on faith(including atheism)(they believe there is no God).

Islam is based on ACTION. Only in Islam must you act.

All other religions(okay, not AGW) all you have to do is have faith, or believe.

Islam is not a religion, it is an act of slavery to a false prophet, that you must commit acts against other people, pray to an object or dead being, and sacrifice the lives of others to receive a reward. It is similar to old testament Bible, which the koran was written from.

It's not so much a matter of "faith" for atheists as it is skepticism. They are skeptical that a god actually exists, based on the last 200 years of studying the world and how it works, and so refrain from believing in one until the data proves otherwise. So far, the data about the world seem to suggest that a god is not necessary for it to run the way it does.

Not true. Some forms of Christianity still stress the importance of actions (doing good deeds) as well as believing in Christ.

Anyway, I've never understood this whole "faith alone will get you saved" thing, because anyone can simply say that they believe in Jesus whether they actually do or not - it promotes moral laziness (or dishonesty, at the very least). It would be more sincere to go a step further and prove that you really do believe in Jesus by doing what he tells you to do (feed the hungry, etc).

No, I don't believe there is no god. I see no evidence of any god/s but that doesn't mean one doesn't exist.

Islam meets all three requirements for being a 'real' religion, according to theologians.

1. A system designed to address the fundamental questions of human identity, ethics, death and the existence of the Divine (if any).
2. A set of beliefs which makes claims that lie beyond the realm of objective scientific observation, according to some authority or personal experience with the Divine.
3. A set of beliefs about cause and effect that Occam's Razor would remove as recognizing causes that are more than what is both true and sufficient to explain the physical evidence.
4. The formal institutions, creeds, organizations, practices, and rules of conduct, of and institutionalized religion so-called.

Last I checked, Islam met all parts of that definition.

Also--I'm fairly sure that the christian faith has a lot of folks out there 'soulwinning' and 'evangelising'.

(I'm not going to harp on missionary work because often they do help in more ways than they set out to--such as bringing medical aid to places that sorely need it, teaching people to read, etc)

Also--the Koran was not 'written' from the Old Testament. The Torah is comprised of the first five books of the OT, and it's not the sole holy book in Judaism--there's also the Talmud.

Several books (the Torah/Pentateuch, Psalms) were carried over, but the whole of the OT? No.

Geez people. Do some research on your religions before you go in bashing.
