The book of mormon contradicts the bible at every turn, and even contradicts itself, it's total bull.

With the comment removed from the context, I'd have to say that it appears purely rational, with nothing intrinsically "fundie" about it, even if the person making it is one. If the context were included, its inclusion here might be more recognizable as fundyism-based.

"After all, he says that the Book of Mormon is bull because it contradicts the bible."
It's a fine argument if the argument is something along the lines of Mormonism's doctrine isn't internally consistent, or that Smith was nuts or that Mormonism can't be blithely included as a Christian denomination.
Yeah, Betty, but the bible contradicts itself as well, so it's NOT a fine argument to say that the Book of Mormon is bull because it contradicts itself but the bible isn't!
The Book of Mormon is worthless and completely parasitical on the Bible. Calling the latter "total bull" is just ignorant. Try reading it with your brain on sometime. Yes, some of it is bull; its inaccuracies and contradictions are glaring. Given its age, what do you expect? It is however taught the world over as literature, as philosophy and - at its best - as spiritual wisdom, even by those who are in no sense Christians. You can acknowledge its worth and cultural importance - and an educated person needs some knowledge of its contents, so influential has it been on our history - without having to sign up to any antiquated creed or stuff about a Sky Daddy.
