Is atheism a crutch for people who can't understand the complexity of God, so they just reject the idea of God?
after all its easier to assign our own world view onto God...and if God doesn't fit it...that God isn't worthy of worship, praise, respect, etc...than to actually try understand God...

I am an ardent atheist. My education included four years in a Jesuit college, with with ongoing emphasis on Scholastic philosophy, theology and apologetics. Care to explain the complexity of God to me?

As the L already mentioned.
Looks like you do it since biblical times.
From the warriorlike YHWH who doesn´t mind commiting and/or ordering atrocities on the enemies of his "chosen people" to the loving god who loves everyone (according to the fundamentalist worldview with the exception of homosexuals, people who are pro choice regarding abortion and liberals ;))
Why not come here to FSTDT and explain it to us?
Your chances of explaining the "complexity of God" in a convincing manner to a rational atheist are lower than Sarah Palin's chance of correctly explaining the "Bush Doctrine" to Katie Couric when that question was posed.
Hell, I'll make the popcorn for the bystanders, while you take the "Old Viking Challenge".
My Goddess does not make unreasonable demands like your God nor does She demand a blood sacrifice. As for God I do believe in the other half of the Goddess. See the evil yin/yang, night/day, and so on. What you don't understand is that many of us have been Christians at one point but actually used our brains. Have fun not being able to meet all the impossible demands of your God.
"Is religion a crutch for people who can't understand the complexity of universe, so they just reject the idea of no God? After all its easier to assign our own world view onto reality...and if reality doesn't fit it...that the universe isn't worthy of being studied...than to actually try understand the universe..."
Fixed.
"Is atheism a crutch for people who can't understand the complexity of God, so they just reject the idea of God?"
And you're only a Christian because you don't understand the intricacies of the cycle of reincarnation, the complexity of Brahman, and the intellectual acuity of the concept of karma. You and your wanton ignorance...
Fundies always seem to assume people don't believe in God because they're too stupid or lazy to learn about Him. In fact, the opposite seems to be true: the more someone studies theology, reads the Bible and questions God, the more likely he is to doubt God's existence.
Except for the fact that some Christians think God is completely "unknowable", and shouldn't be even attempted to be comprehended.
It's also very contradictory for this fundie to openly admit that God is "complex." Shouldn't the mechanism that created God be infinitely more complex than the mechanism that caused us to exist? If that's the case, then God is really useless.
Anyone who deems themselves to know the nature and complexity of God, places themselves above God. Which, if I were God, would piss me off a hell of a lot more than the people saying "We don't think he's real but we could be wrong."
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
