Morals are a sense of what is right and wrong. They dictate what is good, and what is wrong or evil. How can one form morals without a religious base? Secular is by definition the lack of connection to religion. How can you judge what is good and right when you have to point of referance?
I am a Christian. My mind is closed to falsehood. A falsehood is anything that contridicts my belief. If you show me where in the Bible it says evolution occured I will become an evolutionist. That is the only way I will ever become one.

Another example is the slavery in America. That was wrong. It was so very wrong. But if a master treats the slave nicely, gives the slave food and does not beat the slave then that slavery isn't wrong.

Slavery in itself is not wrong as long as the master does no wrong to the slave and does not overuse the slave. An sxample of wrong slavery in the Bible is the Jews being enslaved to the Eygptians. That was wrong, and Jehovah knew it. He sent Moses to get His people outta there.
