I'll look in2 this one later! There are No contradictions in the bible..only misunderstandings, misinterpretations, a lack of 'spiritual knowing' on the parts of readers and of course translatory errors..which arn't really that major, because God says He preserves his word..and He has done..the main message is kept simple, clear and intact!

If Jesus says, love thy enemy, and Moses says, kill them all, there is contradiction. If in one chapter they slaughter and kidnap to get wives, and later on they say that you can´t be yoked to an unbeliever, there is contradiction. If in one book they say that the curse of God can reach seven generations and that all people who suffer disgraces are punished by God and later on Jesus says that not one of the guys who died in the Temple were guilty of anything and in the Book of Job they sustain that thesis, man, THAT IS CONTRADICTION. There are misunderstandings, misinterpretaions, mistranslations...............yes, in the part of some of its writers, not its readers.
If in fact it were the word of god, then there would be no misunderstandings or misinterpretations. He would also have dictated it so that even the most common of people would understand it. That, to me is proof that your bible is, in fact not the word of any god.
If you've just decided that the Bible is without contradictions, you must come up with silly excuses such as a 'lack of spiritual knowing'.
WinAce did the same thing with Star Trek in a parody on his site. He titled it 'Are there really contradictions in Star Trek?', and used fundie logic to rebut all claims of error in ST scripts.

But what's the difference? If ten people all think the Bible means something different, then what good is it? That's why Christianity is divided up into so many sects. Each one thinks they're right and everyone else is wrong. It's not because the other guy is stupid and can't read the Bible. It's because he's read it just as carefully as you and come to a different (and just as supportable) conclusion.
For example, the Baptist Jack Chick says
"Is the man-made Roman Catholic tradition of Confirmation necessary for salvation? God's Holy Word emphatically states, "No!" The Catholic church disregards the Bible and insists that it is. Who will you believe... the Word of God, or the commandments of men?"
But the Catholic Church points to Acts 8:14-17 and says the people of Samaria were baptized in Christ, but did not receive the fullness of the Spirit until they were confirmed by the elders. Hence, baptism is not enough. Confirmation is a sacrament that Jesus Christ instituted within His church to further strengthen those who have reached adulthood. They also point to Acts 19:5-6 and say the people of Ephesus were baptized in Christ, but Paul laid hands on them to seal them with the Holy Spirit. They believe this sealing refers to the sacrament of confirmation.
The Bible can be used to support almost any opinion one chooses to believe.
On the first Easter morning, the visitors to the tomb were greeted by which of the following:
1. A young man (Mark 16:5)
2. No, no, it was no man, it was an angel (Matthew 28:2-5)
3. You're both wrong, it was two men (Luke 24:4)
4. Damn it, there was nobody there (John 20:1-2)
I must be just misunderstanding the the 4 different accounts of the same event but this seems like a genuine contradiction. This would make sense if the bible were merely an imperfect retelling of events important to religion, which is indeed what most Christians would claim.
Of course, the problem with liberal interpretation is that it's nearly impossible to have a truly objective standard to judge what is supposed to be literal and what isn't. In this respect, at least fundies are consistent.
Credit for the question quoted above: Ebon Musings
that 'ebon musings' guy is just an asshole, he's not clever at all In other words, you can't refute the statement, so you're going to use ad hominem swear words.
"that 'ebon musings' guy is just an asshole, he's not clever at all"
Have you tried reading any of the other essays he has on his website? Many of them are very thought provoking. Besides, the Religion 101 page was a guest essay but that's besides the point. The point is that although you may not like his style, that doesn't mean his arguments are invalid.
You haven't done much intensive Bible study, have you, SpiritWarrior?
Very little about the Bible is "simple, clear and intact." In fact, it's one of the more difficult pieces of literature.
I'm sick and tired of hearing from fundies that the reason I don't see anything but a mishmash of nonsense in the Bible is because of either:
a) a spiritual failing on my part or,
b) a failure on my part to ask God to open my eyes (spiritually speaking)
If the TruthTM of the Bible was so readily evident to anyone looking at it, there would be only one version of it and one religion of believers.
To me, this is yet more proof that pile of nonsense was written by very fallible men.

That's what happens when your buddies eat too many hallucinogenic mushrooms.
I'd say that Jesus himself is the biggest contradiction in the bible. Without him, it would be a seamless exposition of "Kill'em, Fuck'em, Enslave'em."
Proverbs 26: 4-5
Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
or you yourself will be just like him.
Answer a fool according to his folly,
or he will be wise in his own eyes.
Confused?
