there is more proof that Jesus Christ lives, died and rose from the dead
than Shakeshphere ever existed.

Uhh, no. There is proof as to Shakespears works, plays etc, his recorded marriage to Anne Hathwey, his three children, and his grave.
There is no proof of Jesus 'ascending' or rising from the dead. Do I believe in a historical Jesus, who preached his words of love etc etc, yes. Did the Romans kill him, yes. Do I agree with the Vatican I deifying him and the purported resurrection? No.
Heck, if this person had just said, "There is more proof that Jesus Christ lives, died and rose from the dead
than Shakeshphere wrote [Insert a Shakespeare play that some argue was written someone else here]", then she might have looked a bit more intelligent. Sheesh, they always have to go for the full stupidity.
There were several Jeshuahs during that period of time in Israel. Some were preachers, some were zealots, some were pacifists, some were crucified... Which one was it?
Rose from the dead? Proof? Muahaha!
Besides Shakesphere having written plays, us knowing who his descendants are, and us being able to excavate his grave and poke sticks at his corpse.
There is little if any proof of Jesus existing outside of the Bible, and the similarities between him and the prophet Mithras who lived years before are so uncanny as to make him appear as a complete rip off of someone else's deity.
To die; To sleep,
To sleep; Perchance to dream, ay there's the rub!
For in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?
- Shakespeare
Shakespeare = endless hours of essays on his plays, all written in the early hours of the morning, participating in said plays, etc...
Whereas with Jesus = Having to deal with fundies...
Does this mean Shakespeare and Jesus are evil for causing endless suffering upon people?
Back to being on topic, burden of proof does not lie with sceptics, but on those who make the extraordinary claims.
The claim that there's "more proof that Jesus Christ lives, died and rose from the dead than [insert historical figure] ever existed" seems to be a common theme among evangelicals these days.
I wonder were it started...
Well, yes, I'm not certain if a Shakeshphere ever existed. He probably would have changed his name to something else anyway, since Shakeshphere is a bugger to pronounce. But it doesn't mean that there is any proof for your skyfairy either.
There's really no proof that Jesus lived except for the Gospels written after he was dead by people who had a vested interest in promoting his memory, and some brief writings by Josephus, who appears to be repeating stuff he heard. If he lived, then he certainly died by now; whether he rose from the dead depends on how gullible one is.
We just have word-of-mouth from people who say he was a great guy, and their interpretation of the empty tomb was that he rose from the dead.
I haven't been much evidence to back that up besides that extremely sketchy shroud.
Sure, there is debate over who wrote Shakespeare's plays, and at least one (Vortigern and Rowena) has been proved to have been written by someone else, but we know Shakespeare existed.

Slight correction. It was Paul who deified Jesus. The Vatican at that time was a Circus - a track for horse/chariot racing where early Christians were martyred under Emperor Nero. Popes didn't really acquire any power until Constantine invested Sylvester with responsibilities of ruling the church in Rome, under his (Constantine's) command. The Council of Nicea rubber-stamped Paul's deification of Jesus as this fitted very nicely with Constantine's policies.
This Shakeshphere would be the one who spent all his time in the Mermaid Tavern, presumably.
Anyway, I refuse to believe this isn't a Poe ... 'Tiffany' just seems too obvious a name to me.
That's pretty amazing, given that Shakespeare existed within the past few centuries, personally authored books, and had plays that were most likely attributed to him through a wide variety of sources and accounts. And Jesus has the Bible...
Not true, but ummmm, errrrr - even assuming that it was:
Gee thanks for the 411, I'll stop eating Body of Bard and praying for eternal eloquence poste haste...
small error in your logic....Corrected:
There is more proof that Jesus Christ lives, died and rose from the dead
than shakesphere (sic) had a lear jet.
There, thats better.
BTW, you did get one thing right, I am not sure Shakeshphere ever existed. However, the evidence is overwhelming that William Shakespeare existed.
Was this really posted on a philosophy board? The end of the world is imminent!
And by "proof" you mean "crazy hearsay"
But I kinda believe her. After all, a Google search on "Shakeshphere" pulled up nothing.
I heard this spouted at least one other time. Someone just blindly repeating BS that they heard somewhere else.
And stupid, to boot. "Jesus Christ lives"? Really? Is he crashing in your basement or something?
Including, like in the case of Shakespeare, A BAPTISM CERTIFICATE, a grave and mentions by his fellow contemporaries?
Confused?
