I also believe that this story is just a lie. I am a Christian, and I hate to see people attempt to use a lie to prove a truth-its just wrong.
Now, about science using personal beliefs of scientist. This is a fact. There is no evidence for evolution. It is all (100%) supposition. If evolution was a fact, then all scientist would believe it. But when surveyed, just over half of scientist believe in evolution. Personal beliefs and opinions run amok within the circles of evolution.
There are many scientist willing to publicly state that they do not accept Darwinian evolution as fact. See www.whoisyorcreator.org and scroll down the page for a link to a growing list of 700+ scientist who say so.

Several problems with this
1: Evolutionists ran "Project Steve" in which every scientist that supported evolution signed a petition, and every name on the petition that wasn't "Steve" was removed. There are more than 700 scientists named "Steve" who support evolution (I think the number was closer to 1,000, google "Project Steve" if you don't believe me) (you beat me to it Patches).
2: Any scientist who isn't a biologist holds a worthless opinion (technically every scientist's opinion is worthless, to think otherwise is to commit "Appeal to Authority")
3: Scientists are allowed to be biased and religious, and to be influenced by non-scientific sources. This does not make these non-scientific opinions correct, just because they are views held by a scientist. As you said your self, "Personal beliefs and opinions run amok within the circles of evolution."
4: A theory is not a fact, a theory is the best explanation of the facts.
5: there are FAR more than 1400 scientists in the world, retard.
6: These petitions against evolution are often worded so vaguely that one can be a staunch supporter of Darwinian Evolution and still sign it in good conscience.
You speak of using beliefs as grounds for a theory as if it is a bad thing, yet to prove your point, you redirect the reader to a website that is obviously founded to further the BELIEF that God is the one creator. All of religion is founded on a set of personal beliefs, whether it be Christianity, Islam, or Pastafarianism. The difference lies in the fact that the beliefs of scientists are anchored in trial and tribulation, while the beliefs of the religious find their source in blind faith. There is no logic to religion. Followers of religion have no say in what they believe, they just follow it like the sheep their Bible tells them they are. Those that traverse the path of science and logic are the ones that truly understand the purpose of humanity in this world.
1."I am a Christian, and I hate to see people attempt to use a lie to prove a truth-its just wrong."-So you hate yourself?
2."There is no evidence for evolution. It is all (100%) supposition."-LIES! evolution is 100% FACT only the mechanism by which it occurs is in question.
3."If evolution was a fact, then all scientist would believe it."-not everyone believes in your god, does that mean he's not real?
4."There are many scientist willing to publicly state that they do not accept Darwinian evolution as fact."-You do realise that creation "scientists" don't count right?

Just because you get an online college degree, does not mean that you are a scientist.
Wait, 700? Just how many scientists does he think there are anyway? I would bet this represents less than 1% of reputable scientists.
"I hate to see people attempt to use a lie to prove a truth-its just wrong."
I hate even more seeing you use a lie to try to prove another lie. Unfortunately that's standard procedure for fundtards.
Since the early Twentieth Century, evolution deniers have been fond of creating lists of "scientists" who do not accept evolution. This tactic is an attempt to give the erroneous impression that, among scientists in general, support for evolution is in decline or that evolution is a "theory in crisis."

You fail.
Anybody ever watch Yes, Prime Minister? Faking a survey result is easy.
You just ask a bunch of leading questions which provoke predictable answers, in this case asking something along the lines of 'do you believe there are flaws (or unexplained elements)' in various theories. Then gradually move into evolution, asking if more research needs to be done.
Then you ask if they believe the current theory of Darwinian evolution is accurate. They say no, because they've already said it needs more work.
Scrap the first bunch of questions, publish the results of the last one, and voila- scientists say Evolution is wrong.
Just for the fun of it...
I searched in the creationist list for Germans. There were two.
W. Hutter should be at U Ulm.
My findings:
He was webmaster of the chemistry faculty in the nineties. Now he can be found as a "co-pastor" at an evangelical church in Ulm. But not in the phonebook of U Ulm. Last dated document I found at the U Ulm web is from 1997.
G.A. Speck should be at U Heidelberg.
My findings:
Unknown to the U Heidelberg phone directory. Unkown to the entire U Heidelberg web site. There was apparently a Georg A. Speck working for Boehringer (a pharmazeutical company) (dated 2003)
The list referenced in the quote was last updated in October 2007. Their updating process is as flawed as their logic.
Conclusions:
I tried 2 of 700. Both were not employed at he stated institutes. I also looked whether they got at least their PhD from the stated universities. No luck.
See www.whoisyorcreator.org and scroll down the page for a link to a growing list of 700+ scientist who say so
The list of scientists named "Steve" who say different is up over 800. And that list includes Nobel laureates.
"I hate to see people attempt to use a lie to prove a truth-its just wrong."
However, using a lie to try and pass a lie off as the truth, appears to be ok with you.
This is painful. It is wrong in pretty much every single place. I suspect Janet even gets her own name wrong.
The issue about "darwinian" evolution vs the current evolutionary theories aside, when these idiots say "scientists" agree with them they are talking about all manner of scientists in disciplines completely disassociated with evolutionary biology. It is like asking a cognitive behaviour scientist their views on 11 brane theory.
Fucking Yahoo! Answers is becoming a breeding ground for idiots. (Becoming......... )
Oh, hey, Janet H, I'm convinced. Those data are from unimpeachable sources. (To fundies, if someone gets a mail order degree in accounting, he or she is a scientist.)
Okay, one, I ain't clicking your "credible" link. (About the only way that thing is credible is that it's incredibly mispelled....)
Two, "Using a lie to prove a truth is just wrong." ...Follow your own philosophy. Sheesh.
I believe that story is a just a lie. I am an atheist, and I hate to see people attempt to use a lie to prove a truth - it's just wrong.
Now, about religion using personal beliefs of believers. This is a fact. There is no evidence of God. It is all (100%) supposition. If The Bible was fact, then all God-believers would believe in it. But... most religions don't believe in the Bible. Personal beliefs and opinions run amok within the sphere of religion.
First off, the web site listed by Janet is misspelled. If you spell it correctly, the link is not dead. Yor is spelled with a u.
Being not dead, (or not brain dead anyway) doesn't apply as well to those writing on that site. But like most fundy web sites, this one really just looks like it's really a for profit site. And as most of us know, the God business is a good way to make a buck.
As for the Steve project... It's meant as a joke. The National Center for Science Education, which set up the list never wanted to create lists because they argue that science is not democratic. You don't get to vote on truth. If 1,000,000 people believe a lie, it's still a lie. (Reminds me of the Headline on the (British) Daily Mirror back in Nov 2004 regarding the Bush re-election: "How can 59 million people be so dumb?") http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/images/blbushdumbpeople.htm
But the NCSE had so many people pushing for it they decided to set up this project tongue in cheek. So if you had the credentials, and your names was Steve or Steph, you could enter your support for the project.
No mail order degrees accepted.
Okay....so much wrong with this paragraph! First of all, the plural of scientist is SCIENTISTS, retard!
"I am a Christian, and I hate to see people attempt to use a lie to prove a truth-its just wrong."
This made my day!!!
There is a TON of evidence for evolution you piece of shit!
Oh for goodness sake!
Janet, I'm also a Christian, and a scientist, I study Physics and Astronomy. You know, physics, big bang etc.
Why is everybody so flipping stupid when it comes to this argument? It's not even an argument, evolution and creationism co-exist, without accepting both of them there's always going to be gaps! There's absolutely no conflict between the two ideas, so people who say evolution is proof that God doesn't exist are WRONG! In fact, if you look into the probabilities etc it actually provides proof of His existence! This argument is pointless guys, please quit it and get your facts straight!
Then by your own logic, does that not debunk Creationism, too, as not all scientists agree on that as fact either?
Newsflash: reality is not a popularity contest.
WOW 700 WHOLE SCIENTISTS!!!
OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!
700 WHOLE SCIENTISTS!!!
ON A PUBLIC FORUM THAT ANYONE CAN SIGN UP FOR!!!
Back serious now:
I could probably find 700 people on the internet who thought fucking curried penguin was right, who claimed to be scientists.
I didn't see the list, so I don't know the parameters used to define "scientists."
What does it take to be considered a scientists?
You know what, Janet? I'm Christian, too, but I'm not so ridiculous as to ACTUALLY believe in the 7-day-creation foolishness. The problem lies in the misunderstanding of the Bible. It's my personal philosophy that the Bible is meant to be taken allegorically and not by ANY means literally.
So stop making intelligent Christians look bad.
"But when surveyed, just over half of scientist believe in evolution."
YOU ARE A LIAR AND YOU WILL BURN IN THE FIERY PIT WITH SATAN FOR ALL ETERNITY FOR IT
Even back in the 80s the polls showed under 1% of scientists in fields actually relevant didnt accept evolution. its only gotten smaller. Its never okay to lie, even for Jesus.
There is no evidence for evolution. It is all (100%) supposition
This is a lie. Evolution has been demonstrated in a lab.
when surveyed, just over half of scientist believe in evolution
Citation very much needed because that's flat wrong. The actual number is around 97%.
Oh gods, she's talking about that petition. All that is a list of people who claim to be scientists, very few of whom even claim to be trained in the relevant fields. I'm a psychologist. That means I am a scientist and could sign that petition. But being trained in psychology doesn't mean I know dick about biology beyond the physical biology of the brain.
Well, for starters, you should know that science is not a poll. And second, most scientists have accepted the theory of evolution.
Couldn't link to the site but have seen one of these "scientists who believe in creation" list broke down years ago.
A list of 100 was mostly Pharmacists and Engineers and the rest were Dentists, Accountants and Theologists. There were two actual Biologists and one had never agreed with the premise and didn't know he was put on the list.
I've often seen Theologists listed as Scientists, it flies well in their circle as it seems fundies think Theology is an all-encompassing degree.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
