(In response to Largo, FL city manager Steve Stanton announcing plans to get a sex change - which led to city commissioners voting to fire him:)
Mr. Stanton is not a role model. He's proven that. I think for the sake of our young people today, you need to do what's right, and that's terminate him. ... If Jesus was here tonight, I can guarantee you he'd want him terminated. Make no mistake about it.

He's right. I found it in Luke 16:18
"Whosoever putteth away his johnson and tradeth it for a vagina, and marrieth another man, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth "her" that has put away his johnson committeth adultery.
Source: Holy Bible, Authorized "Pull-It-Out-of-Your-Ass" Version
If Jesus was here tonight, I can guarantee you he'd want him terminated.
Why? For doing something that doesn't hurt anybody? A sex-change would have no effect on a person's competence to do their job, and it won't corrupt the poor, precious children. As for Jesus, he wasn't there was he? And neither the state of Florida, nor any of the cities in Florida, should be making decisions based on the whim of your holy zombie.
If Jesus was here tonight, I can guarantee you he'd want him terminated.
To listen to fundies, you'd be surprised how rarely Jesus actually criticized anyone in the Bible, except for the Pharisees and scribes, whom he called hypocrits. He quotes OT law, but rarely makes it personal. The only clear example I can think of is his comment to the Samaritan woman at the well about her multiple husbands. And even she went away liking the guy.
Yes, because, you know, the one who´s free of sin cast the first stone, do not judge lest you´d be judged..........we have made no mistake about it. It´s you who read the Mad Max Bible, I think.
Yeah -- Just like Jesus condemned the woman at the well, the Samaritan woman who touched the hem of His garment, and the woman who was about to be stoned for adultery by the Pharisees.
Oh, wait: He didn't condemn them.
No matter: when you're a fundy, Jesus exists only as a convenient excuse to justify doing whatever one wants to do.
@Mister Spak
Jesus: Weren't you a man last week?
Stanton: Yes.
Jesus: Stay here. I'll be back.
Jesus: Some people here shall not taste of death until I return..
2000 years pass..
Still no sign of Jesus.
"anybody who can't even figure out what sex he is isn't qualified to be any kind of leader, he belongs in an insane asylum. furthermore, all those dr. frankensteins performing such 'operations' should be burned at the stake as a deterrent. period."
Spoken like a true supporter of Augustin Pinochet, Francisco Franco, António de Oliveira Salazar and Benito Mussolini.
If you knew anything at all about your saviour, you would understand that he would terminate no one. Then next time you read your bible, look for words like compassion and understanding. (Unless of course you've had them edited out.)

What was there to condemn about the woman at the well? She was perfectly within her rights to divorce and marry as many men as she wished. Oh I know, it was her self-determination that freaked people out.Damn! Another loop-hole exploited by independent women.
That would be true today, but that was not the case 2,000 years ago. At that time, women (and children) were little more than a man's "property" -- in the literal sense of the word. If a woman lost her husband via divorce or death, there was very little recourse available to her except to either find another husband or become a beggar or a prostitute.
And unfortunately, that's pretty much the way things were for women up until the time of the Enlightenment.
One of the things which made Jesus so radical was His proclamation of the absolute equality of men and women -- something which the Church Fathers went to great lengths to squelch. Women were leaders of the New Testament churches. In fact, it was a woman -- Jesus' mother -- who was present at Jesus birth, ministry, death and Resurrection (if one believes in the Resurrection) and Mary Magdalene was not a prostitute, but likely Jesus' wife.
The Church fathers considered sex to be a sin, and wanted Jesus to be free of any taint of sin (including sex), which is how we ended up with the strange doctrine of a celibate Jesus.
However, Jewish men of His day were expected to marry, and it's perfectly reasonable to assume that Jesus likely married as well. As the original New Testament documents were copied and edited, and re-copied and re-edited, Mary Magadalene went through a transformation from Jesus' companion and mate to repentant prostitute.
Which is a little off the topic, but offered an explanation of the status of women in Jesus' time and how even Jesus' companion was transformed from His mate into a prostitute.
Sanders wrote a letter to the Times which reads in part:
I cannot believe the negative response I have received over this - all the hate calls and mail.
First, I offer no apologies for what I said, and I believe that what I said is 100 percent the truth from a biblical standpoint. I believe the Bible is the word of God and that there are no errors in the Bible. I also believe that Jesus is God.
The biggest criticism I have received over this is what I said about Jesus. I believe most people today are confused about who Jesus is. The liberals and scripturally uneducated people think Jesus is only the Jesus who walked this earth and is only good, loving, kind, etc. Of course, Jesus is good, loving, kind, etc., but there is another side of Jesus that they do not want to face.
Their false Jesus does not exist today. The Bible says Jesus came to seek and to save that which is lost. He claimed to be God, and claimed that no one could get to heaven except by him and that they must be born again. Jesus also spoke a lot on hell, he did all the miracles spoken of in the Bible and more, was crucified and rose from the dead, proving he was God.
This is the Jesus who lives today and the Jesus I was referring to. I believe almighty Jesus would want Steve Stanton fired.
If you read the Bible, you will find God (Jesus) is a very strict God who hates sin. The Bible tells us that when we die, he will either be our savior or our judge. For those of us who have received him as our savior and repented of our sins, we will go to heaven. For those who have not received him as their savior, Jesus will then sentence them to eternal hell because they have not been forgiven of their sins....
Reverend, I hate to tell you this, but it turns out that Jesus was a long-haired, gown-wearing liberal.
Jesus was all about love!
What the FUCK kind of Christian are you?! I just laugh at most of these, but this just pissed me off!
How can you speak of your fucking SAVIOUR like that?! Do you REALLY want the deity that is looking after your soul be completely willing to take someone's LIFE at the drop of a hat?
Take a fucking step BACK and look at yourself. Do you like what you see? Do you ENJOY being the way you are? Do you LIKE hating for no reason? Do you LIKE hurting other people?!
Just...
fuck you, man. You've shamed yourself, your religion, and your saviour. Enjoy.
jesus wouldnt want anyone terminated you depraved hick. whoever is your boss should take away any way for you to communicate with the outside world and lock you up for attempting to incite violence upon other citizens. this person is getting their sex changed. i personally wouldnt do that but im not that person and neither are you. how would you explain these priests PROVEN to have molested young boys, or larry craig gettin a bj from a male prosti in an airport bathroom? god fearing my ass. youre a hate inspired ignorant man who hides behind the 1st ammendment when its convenient for him. i could say in an honest hearfelt way that i hope the worst for you in life and hope that maybe after youve lost your false pulpit you'll realize how much you need to apologize for what you just said.
Though I agree with the Reverend 110% on this issue I think that, to be completely realistic, we can all agree that Jesus's first order of business would be to say, "Hey! Somebody get me down off this cross! My hands and feet are stinging and I'm crucified for chrissake!"
Am I right or am I right?
Jesus, if he lived at all, lived in a period where gender reassignment surgery wouldn't even have been conceivable - even the craziest hallucinatory prophecies in the bible don't come anywhere close to predicting anything like it, despite your apparent conviction that it's manifestly evil.
It is impossible to know what he'd think about it, and meaningless to speculate.
"You need to do what's right, and that's terminate him."
Perhaps the FBI should investigate this dumbass fundie. He sounds like a danger to society.
erm, well surely if Jesus felt so strongly (despite his message of love) he could always go "Daddy please kill that person" and God, being Omnipotent could handle it no problem. Clearly, since this hasn't happened, we can only assume that God really doesn't agree very strongly with Rev. Sanders.
He who is without sin cast the first stone...
Your own Jesus condemns your action.
Oh and... Don't take the lord's name in vain...
As far as I could tell from the parts of the babble, which I have read, Jesus was one hell of a hippie. I think, he would accept a trannie any day. And if he wouldn't, I wouldn't listen to him.
"And verilie, verilie I saye unto you," quothe Christe uponn the mountte, "lett there bee no trannies among thy munnycypall govvernmentte, butt ye shall termynate them."
If Jesus was here tonight, I can guarantee you he'd want him terminated
Really? I seem to recall some story about stones, and not having sin, and casting the first one, but I don't quite recall the moral.
Confused?
