The Bible proves itself but Simon thinks that is circular reasoning. I'm done posting to him for that reason.

The Bible is true because the Bible says it is, which is true because the Bible is true, which is true because the Bible says it is, which is true because the Bible is true, which is true because the Bible says it is, which is true because the Bible is true, which is true because the Bible says it is, which is true because the Bible is true, which is true because the Bible says it is, which is true because the Bible is true, which is true because the Bible says it is, which is true because the Bible is true, which is true because the Bible says it is, which is true because the Bible is true, which is true because the Bible says it is, which is true because the Bible is true, which is true because the Bible says it is...
Someone help, I've reached an infinite loop error.
I'm done posting to him for that reason
Because you know he's right: that the Bible cannot be used to prove itself .
Just ask Conservative Christian Judge John E. Jones III in Kitzmiller vs. Dover.
Otherwise why didn't the defendants win...?!

Simon says... It's not just him; that's the definition of circular reasoning, dolt.
You're done posting to him because the truth hurts?
Well; If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck....It's CIRCULAR REASONING.
Replace The Bible with Lord of the Rings , The Wizard of OZ , Dracula , a James Bond novel, a Hardy Boys mystery or a Superman comic....pretend that they all say in their text that they are "true because they said so"....and MAYBE you'll see what Simon is saying!
The Bible can say it's 100% true in it's text all it wants but it needs another, non-scripture source that can verify it. Any idiot can say "I am telling the truth and am infallible!" but if it appears otherwise to others that it isn't or isn't proven, then CAN YOU BLAME PEOPLE FOR NOT BELIEVING?!
Look! The city of Tyre still exists! Archeology has shown Egyptian slavery, The Exodus and the mass genocide of the Canaanites never happened (if something similar did happen, it was far smaller and more mundane and the Bible blew it out of proportion....or it's PARABLES!).
Just accept that your ANTHOLOGY OF MANY DIFFERENT SEPARATE BOOKS OF DIFFERENT GENRES BY DIFFERENT AUTHORS WRITTEN OVER CENTURIES OF VARYING DEGREES OF VERACITY called "The Bible" is best interpreted as AS METAPHOR USING LOOSELY-HISTORICAL-BASED MYTHS MEANT TO IMPART HIGHER SPIRITUAL TRUTHS & ETHICS!
Forget circular reasoning. Please answer these three questions using just the bible.
1. What time of day was it when Mary showed up at the tomb?
2. Who was with Mary?
3. Who was already at the tomb?
I've found that most arguments for the existence of God, even when not circular in the strictest sense, are definitely tautological: Unearth the unspoken assumptions, strip away the red herrings and unnecessary embellishments, and you're left with what is essentially "If God exists, then God exists". Like all tautologies, this is technically true. It's too easy for some, when they've found a truth, to believe they've found the truth they were expecting to find... particularly if they're not aware of their own assumptions or don't understand the nature of the argument they're using.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
