The founding of the USA in 1976 was the first effort to unify Science and Religion and unify them in a nation under God. But, this godly effort of the founders of the USA began to fade away with the assassination of Abe Lincoln. The motive behind Lincoln’s death seems clear. Darwin’s 1859 theory of evolution is godless and, if promoted worldwide, could remove God from the USA. To expand this promotion, atheistic physicists created another godless theory known as the Big Bang theory. By the 1970s, most US scientists became atheists. But, these atheistic efforts are failing. I say they are failing because human freedom can be proven only if God exists and creates independence in everything in the universe.

While I could claim this was a typo, the fact that 9 is about 3 jumps from 7 makes that a bit of a stress.
So... the US was founded in 1976, but it's scientists became atheists in 1970? What, are atheists time travelers now?
First of all, even if they were that doesn't matter since they're still scientists. Science comes before religion.
Lincoln wasn't killed by an atheist. Hell, if I remember correctly his close friend said he didn't believe, so if that's true you have it in reverse.
Atheists aren't dying, in fact we're growing more numerous since you can't run around killing/oppressing/whatever us any more. Jews are probably getting more numerous for the same reason, no more running around killing/torturing/etc. indiscriminately.
Finally, God creates less than independence. The Judeo-Christian god is one that provides about as much freedom as a dictator sitting in front of the election box with a gun. You COULD try to vote for some one else or do something he didn't like but then he'd kill you. Or in God's case, damn you.
Yeah and then the stonecutters who killed Lincoln put him on a 5 dollar bill because it symbolizes a pentagram. Then I fasted for 40 days and saw a demon. Then, then, then...
"I say they are failing because human freedom can be proven only if God exists and creates independence in everything in the universe."
Mmmm, salad.
That whole blog is full of gems, such as:
"I expect these blogs and the related blogs of other people to be detected by Jesus Christ and those higher intelligent humans who already live on other planets."
(On America under God) "I informed President George W. Bush., Chief Justice John Roberts, Senator Robert Byrd, John D. Rockefeller, IV, and Representative Shelley Moore Capito of my research on these subjects."
You Atheists are all the same. You are quibbling over typos because you KNOW this man speaks the TRUTH. TRUTH can only exist because GOD gives it to us with his almighty power. You atheists believe stuff you learn out of a history book, but history, like science, is EVIL, and the writers of those books are filling your godless heads with LIES. How can you prove they aren't lies? Were you there? Shollenberger WAS there, because unlike you, he is a Christian, and his history knowledge was given to him by GOD, not some liberal gay history teacher who promotes sin and idolatry!!!!
"To expand this promotion, atheistic physicists created another godless theory known as the Big Bang theory."
Atheists like Monsignor Georges Lemaitre of the Catholic church?
"By the 1970s, most US scientists became atheists. But, these atheistic efforts are failing."
In 1916 a survey of scientists by Prof. James Leuba of Bryn Mawr College found that 41.8% of scientists have some belief in a god. When this study was repeated in 1997 by Edward Larson of the University of Georgia, the figure was 39.3%. However, of the remainder, only 41.5% were atheists in 1916, rising to only 46.3% in 1997, with the rest regarding themselves as agnostic.
So (a) most scientists were, and are, not atheists, (b) explicitly theist scientists were nonetheless a minority long before the 70s, and (c) this fact has not changed in nearly a century.
So the theory of evolution killed Lincoln in the Pantry with the lead pipe. And I was thinking it was Booth in the Theater with the pistol. Man, I suck at Clue.
You have given me the greatest idea ever - Celebrity Clue! JFK, RFK, JFK Jr, Abe Lincoln, Marilyn Monroe, John Belushi, John Candy, John Lennon, they could all work amazinly well! Quick, someone get me a direct line to Parker Brothers!
"By the 1970s, most US scientists became atheists."
So you've met a scientist. I've known hundreds, and work (surprise) in a lab. I don't know many atheist scientist. I know Christians (even a fundamentalist microbiologist -- go figure) I know Islamic, Jewish, Hindu scientists as well.
That one scientist you met (or someone told you about) is not representative of all - not by a long shot.
btw, 1976 was the Bicentenial.
I don't feel so bad now...my pet brain-fart is simply that P/Saul was the Antichrist.
Science and religion unified? That's like the fish-and-bicycle concept. Not to say that many scientists do not privately observe religion...but scientists are generally comfortable in more than one modality of awareness.
It is either, I am too drunk to comprehnend what he is saying or, 1976? the rest is just old, plain WTF??!?
Since most US scientists are atheists, and the fundys are trying to hold back atheism, you have just explained the REAL reason why Xians don't want science in schools. If the TRUTH prevails why do you try so hard to shelter people from education? Doesn't this contradict?
"The founding of the USA in 1976 was the first effort to unify Science and Religion and unify them in a nation under God."
Just when I thought all the stupid had been used up, a Mike Huckabee supporter appears.
That's a pretty darn impressive typo there. Looking beyond it, it's on the second page of comments, and nobody has said...
TREATY OF TRIPOLI, BITCH!!
The rest of the quote is pretty boring and mindless fundie.
"But, these atheistic efforts are failing. I say they are failing because I, personally, disagree with their conclusions."
Excuse me? 1976? The U.S. an effort to unify Xtianity with science? The assassination of the decidedly non-Xtian Lincoln was the beginning of the fade away from God? The ToE removing God from the U.S.? What were you doing instead of going to history class?
Proof of human freedom relies on the existence of God? "Independence in everything in the universe?" Ever even heard of critical thinking?
is that the same Abraham Lincoln that said
"The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma."
?
You fail History.
You fail Political Science.
You fail Science.
You fail Religion.
You fail Philosophy.
You are a failure of epic proportions.
Michael is right...you are a fucking idiot.
To be fair, this man has suffered from an artery blockage, causing damage to his brain. He has admitted as such, and said that is what turned him to God.
Brain damage = religious. Lovely.
"The founding of the USA in 1976"? ...WTF?
Besides that epic fuckup, the founding fathers and many Patriots were advocates of separation of church and state. That's why they abolished the requirement that one be a churchgoer to run for office and to vote and stopped giving state money to churches.
And no, the US breaking away from England was in no way an effort to "unify Science and Religion." More like an effort to escape England's oppressive legislation.
I was in elemetary school when the U.S. celebrated its Bicentennial.
I remember going to the school auditorium and listening to some of the other kids at school read a little prepared speech for the occasion. Unfortunately, the speech contained a typo, so here we were listening to 5 kids all saying, in unison, "America will be 200 years old on July fourth, seventeen seventy-six."
Immediately, one of the other kids in the audience bellowed, "NINETEEN seventy-six, you dummies!"
That moment is still burned into my memory.

The latest survey involved 517 members of the National Academy of Sciences; half replied. When queried about belief in "personal god," only 7% responded in the affirmative, while 72.2% expressed "personal disbelief," and 20.8% expressed "doubt or agnosticism." Belief in the concept of human immortality, i.e. life after death declined from the 35.2% measured in 1914 to just 7.9%. 76.7% reject the "human immortality" tenet, compared with 25.4% in 1914, and 23.2% claimed "doubt or agnosticism" on the question, compared with 43.7% in Leuba's original measurement. Again, though, the highest rate of belief in a god was found among mathematicians (14.3%), while the lowest was found among those in the life sciences fields -- only 5.5%.

Lemme correctify you.
The founding of the USA in 1776 was the first effort to separate Science and Religion and keep them separate since religious arrogance only start wars But, this godly effort of the founders of the USA began to fade away with the creation of Fundies . The motive behind Fundyism seems clear. Darwin’s 1859 theory of evolution is One of the theories that disproved creation, not God and, if promoted worldwide, could remove God from the USA. YES! YES! DO IT! To explain something , possibly atheistic physicists created another creation theory known as the Big Bang theory. By the 1970s, most US scientists became atheists, by my total speculation. But, these atheistic efforts are The best guess we have . Idiots speculate that they are failing because human freedom can be proven only if God exists and creates independence in everything in the universe. Non-idiots have proven this to be bs.
"The founding of the USA in 1976"
Go back to school.
"One nation under god" did not appear in the US until September 7, 1892. (Pledge of allegience, no suprise, was written by a Xtian).
Lincoln's assasination was an attempt of the confederacy to overthrow the government (other heads of state were targeted but not killed). The Confederacy was certainly not athiest.
Promoting anything WORLDWIDE should not effect the US.
Actually most scientists were athiests even back in the early 1900s. "In 1914, James H. Leuba found that 58% of 1,000 randomly selected U.S. natural scientists expressed "disbelief or doubt in the existence of God" (wikipedia)
And finally, freedom does not require any sort of god, particularly not one who enforces arbitrary "morals".
Edit: Oh yeah, and once again, evolution and the big bang model are not the same thing, nor do they even require one another. Some form of god *could have* created the universe in a big bang, then placed all the peoples there. Or, created a non-expanding universe, and poked the primordial ooze until things crawled out. Or neither. Or both theories could (independantly!!!) be wrong for non-religious reasons. But stop EQUATING the two. Fund-tard.
...Which is why God wants us all to be his slaves. Because freedom is slavery.
FYI, half the Founding Fathers (and the majority of the most influential ones) didn't believe in the blood thirsty barbarian you worship.
Cool! Atheists have the ability to time travel. That can be useful, I wonder when I'll get this neat ability.
What a time warp, I wonder if this guy read, even partially read, what he wrote. Then again, maybe he did and he thinks it's completely accurate.
weren't a number of people involved with the big bang theory clergymen?
though, they were catholic so they werent "true christians"
There is not a single factual statement in that entire dang paragraph... :(
BTW, I recall reading an article about Darwin's religious views on Wikipedia which states that Darwin said that a man "can be an ardent Theist and an evolutionist", so Evolution is NOT inherently godless.
And besides, the big bang theory was proposed by a Catholic monk named Georges Lemaître, so you can't call that Atheistic either.
The 1976 thing is probably a typo (I hope), but the rest is still complete crap. For a start, which "atheistic efforts" are failing, precisely? It is you fundies who consistently fail to offer one shred of real evidence that your god exists. Science, on the other hand, continuously provides answers.
Funny typo with the "1976", then the US of A is younger than I am.
The "godly" effort of the founders was to keep religion safely away from government.
Wasn't the motive for the murder something about Southerner prisoners of war?
Darwin was a Christian most of his life, towards the end he became more and more agnostic.
His Theory of Evolution is neither godly nor godless, it does not concern itself with any gods whatsoever.
Why would a worldwide promotion of the ideas of an Englishman remove God from the US?
The Big Bang has nothing to do with ToE, when will they ever get this?
Pity we can't ask the slaves in the Southern states what they thought about human freedom and godly independence.
USA was founded the year I started school? Funny; that's not what I was taught...
The "Under God" wasn't put there until the Red Scare in the fifties, apparently twenty years before the US was founded.
Darwin is buried in Westminster Abbey in London, Great Britain; that's how godless he was.
Why would the ToE remove God from the US, if it's promoted worldwide? The Pope manages to accept the ToE AND believe in God, strangely enough. The ToE IS "promoted" almost worldwide, btw.
The more you educate yourself, the less sense religions make. That's why many scientists are atheists.
Human freedom can be proven, only if we're controlled by your sky-bully?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
