In our school district in Alabama, our daughter is being exposed to so much persecution by hateful kids and so many lies that my husband and I don't know if we can undo all the damage. That is why we are desperately trying to get our visually impaired daughter caught up to grade level so we can put her back in a private school again and hopefully get away from some of this perversion, which includes AIDS education classes in 5th grade.

It could be that she is just "weird" in some sense. You said she is visually impaired, how bad is it? Kids get teased/bullied just for wearing regular glasses, it's probably not prosecution of the christian. And what are the lies? Geography, history and comparative religion classes?
Oh, and my favorite: the evil of AIDS education. We wouldn't want your kid to know what it is and how it can be prevented, would we?
Maybe you should move to a blue state. We don't allow bullying anymore. It's now recognized as the form of violence that it is.
But then again, in a blue state, she would learn such terrible things, such as birth control and evolution!
Sorry fundies, DAMNED if you do, DAMNED if you don't!
Persecution for being taught what AIDS is?, in that case the visually impaired, metaphorically speaking, is you.
An almost universally common misconception is that only the abnormal are victims of bullying. Bullies always go for the easiest target, true, but if you were to surround those with tendencies towards bullying with perfectly uniform targets, they sure as hell wouldn't stop, they'd just pick one at random. Ergo, forcing your child to be as "normal" and conformative as possible does not solve the problem; at best it'll transfer it to some other kid, and that's nothing to be proud of, at worst you'll end up giving your child as many problems as a result of your own actions as they'd have being left to fend for themselves as they are. Taking disciplinary and corrective action against the bully is the only correct and workable course.
The sad thing is that in Alabama schools (at least, the one's I've been to or tutored in) they give you the "disclaimer" versions ("some people say that...") or the abstinence-only versions where "sex is evil" is repeated about six times (just after the nurse finishes telling you about her darling children). I didn't think there was anything left in those lectures for fundies to get upset about.
Funny, when I was in school, most, if not all, of my bullying problems were brought on by Christians because I was not one myself.
Is it really that bad to teach the children about STDs? Wouldn't that encourage them not to have sex with everyone, or at least use a condom?
Or do you think your kid would try to catch them all. STD pokemon.

So is a grown man : certainly of late.
By the way, if you think he shouldn't be subjected to Persecution, question: would you trust your daughter with Roy Less ...?!
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
