In the atheist mindset... there is no natural reason to have a morality or a conscience. Beyond fear of getting caught and punished, there is no natural, rational reason for personal morals.

It's called a moral compass, but I don't think fundies are familiar with the concept.
Quite shiny mirror here actually.

Fixed it for you...
Maybe didaskalos is confusing atheists with sociopaths.
I like to operate from a combination of duty-based ethics and Utilitarianism. And, you know... common sense.
On the other hand, there are certain things which I would consider as not being relevant to Morality which perhaps the average fundie would. I don't consider it moral, for example, to proscribe the actions of other people where they do no harm to anyone else.
Sorta makes you wonder.
For Christians, the fact that atheists have no moral code inherent in their atheism is a frightening thing.
For atheists, the fact that Christians need to be told "Thou Shalt Not Kill" is TERRIFYING.
I'll take "Greater Good of the Community" for $1000, Alex.
And didaskalos, you don't deserve your username.
It's called compassion, and common sense.
And if you only do the right thing because you are afraid of Hell, then you are a sorry excuse for a human.
Talk about "pot, kettle, black". On an epic scale.
Since he's so fond of Greek epithets, didaskalos should rename himself - as rhetomoros.
I'm sorry. I don't rape/kill/steal/etc because I know another will suffer for it, and it bothers me greatly. Not because a giant finger in the sky is being wagged at me. As was said, if the only thing stopping you from any of these things is a book and an imaginary friend, then that makes you a delightful blend of sad, and scary.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
