(Rep. Monique Davis on atheism)
Davis: It’s dangerous to the progression of this state. And it’s dangerous for our children to even know that your philosophy exists! Now you will go to court to fight kids to have the opportunity to be quiet for a minute. But damn if you’ll go to [court] to fight for them to keep guns out of their hands. I am fed up! Get out of that seat!
Sherman: Thank you for sharing your perspective with me, and I’m sure that if this matter does go to court---
Davis: You have no right to be here! We believe in something. You believe in destroying! You believe in destroying what this state was built upon.

BLUEPILLERS FOR JEZUS!!!!
"You believe in destroying! You believe in destroying what this state was built upon."
WRONG! PHAIL! STOP YELLING!
How is it dangerous for kids to know that there are different philosophies? You destroyed the first amendment. You must hate America. And you call them destroyers? What about the Crusuades, Inquiaition, Army of God, Christian Identity, KKK, etc?
Davis should have his ass kicked back to the middle ages. This discussion shouldn't even come up in goverment and people like Davis should be removed for impeeding peoples rights and violating the constitution.
Ya wanna Theocracy, Move.
There are laws against taking guns to schools. As far as keeping guns out of Childrens hands. Hey it's your constitution.
Of course the constitution also states that EVERYONE has freedom of religion, or lack there of.

The comments sound EXACTLY like some two-bit Communist dictator from the '60s. Granted, the Commies weren't referring to religion, but the levels of mind control and suppression of free thought are very similar.
Strawmen! Strawmen everywhere!
"Can't sleep, strawmen will eat me. Can't sleep, strawmen will eat me. Can't sleep, strawmen will eat me."
And it’s dangerous for our children to even know that your philosophy exists!
We don't have to tell your children that atheism exists. The beauty of it is that they can figure it out for themselves. Well if you will believe in a talking snake and a talking ass! The bit about getting striped goats from breeding them in front of a striped pole is doubly ludicrous.
For fucks sake, if you are going to spout bullshit and try and get other people to believe it, don't give us stuff that we can test and fail you on.
Actually, Davis has no right to be there, just ask Thomas Paine, and ben franklin. progress? Ha, the only thing christianity has brought is disease, violence, and ignorance. Let's see what progress have the christians brought: illiteracy, the inquisition, the holocaust, the witchtrials. Lincoln was a Diest you ignorant ho, NOT A CHRISTIAN.
I'm a Buddhist and I don't believe in the God that Ms. Davis believe in. Would she consider the God-non-believers like me as dangerous? and are destroying her world?
Poor Ms. Davis! Does she know she's isolating herself with that line of thinking.
To make the matter worse, her agressiveness ("Get out of your seat") will some day lead agressiveness to her face. And it makes me wonder if you have to be violent like that to defend your God?
Having just read read the account of the attack on Ron Sherman by fellow
legislator Davis, I am writing in support for his courageous stand as an
Atheist. How sad that Ms Davis' narrow and uneducated view of
non-believers exists in a supposed intelligent law-maker.
We Atheist have too long stood in the shadows, because of fear of
just such persecution and discrimination. I finally gave up my brain-washed belief in superstition and myth at the age of 35, 42 years ago and was promptly condemned by my family and many friends. I have had to alter my 'openness in many aspects of my 50 year nursing career.
In my local Freethought Group the discussion often arises with much difference of opinion about being honest and open about Atheism. We, as a group, I believe should make it our mission to educate and inform. Hiding in the shadows will only continue to allow people such as Davis to perpetuate their misinformation and delay the liberation of mankind from the harmful effects that religions have on the full evolution and development of the human race.
So I applaud , Mr Sherman.
Sincerely,

I ran across this in another thread about Ms. Davis. It wasn't sourced, so I stole it. I think it would apply to many discussions of hateful fundies
"Man is a social creature who works in groups, and thrives in groups. Behaving in a way that maintains a spirit of cooperation and order is beneficial to all partners and allows them to achieve more than they could were they isolated. So it is LOGICAL to be MORAL in a society."
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
