It is ironic to me that the atheists want freedom from religion when atheism IS a religion. You have to BELIEVE that there is no God, since they cannot prove conclusively that there is no God. They have FAITH in man - their own ability to determine whether or not there is a God - so much faith, in fact, that they are willing to stake their eternal souls, as well as the souls of their children, family, friends, and whomever else they influence away from God, on their own ability to think they know EVERYTHING in the universe. I know I don't know everything, that's why I would rather put my faith in an awesome, holy God than in flawed, fallible, imperfect man. BTW, No Quarter, Darwin, a flawed, fallible, imperfect man, believed that there were "Favoured Races" - the light skinned ones - which had evolved further away from dark-skinned apes - and the Hitler's Nazi slaughter of the Jews was based on the principles of evolution, as was Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge, and Joseph Stalin's regime.

Darwin didn't believe light skinned people were "favored races" - Love just made that up or read it on some YEC website. The term "favored races" referred to those species of plants and animals more successfully adapted to their environment. It had nothing to do with what we call "race" in human terms - humans were barely mentioned in the book. For example, he wrote "... it seems to me not improbable, that if we could succeed in naturalising, or were to cultivate, during many generations, the several races, for instance, of the cabbage, in very poor soil." By the standards of his day, Darwin was fairly liberal, although he (and most every other European) no doubt thought Europeans to be superior to other humans. He was, for example, opposed to slavery. Anyway, what does this ad hominem argument have to do with Darwin's theory? William Shockley invented the transistor and won the Nobel Prize in physics, and was as racist as they come. BTW, chimpanzees, our closest relatives, are white. Our skin probably turned dark as we evolved less fur.
Hitler's desire to create a "master race" was based on prejudice and animal breeding - both long preceded Darwin. The rest of his stuff about atheism is just a clumsy restatement of Pascal's Wager.

Great. Then I demand you respect my Freedom of Religion, and let me perform my lack of worship in peace. Oh, and I guess I should take advantage of that whole "tax-exempt" status religious centers enjoy, huh?

You have to BELIEVE that there is no God, since they cannot prove conclusively that there is no God.
You cannot see God. You cannot feel God. You cannot hear God. You cannot smell God. You cannot taste God. There is no physical or empirical proof of God's existence. It's more a leap of faith to believe in God than to not.

No, we do not know "everything." We work with the evidence at hand. And the evidence points to either a deity so utterly apathic to it's creations that it stands by to the point of seeming nonexistence, or flat out nonexistence. It doesn't help that his judgment is indistingushable from random happenstance.

Blatant quote mining. "Favored Races" had nothing to do with racism...it merely meant that there were creatures better suited to survive, and they did. They were "favored" by the environment.

Hitler banned Origin of Species, and Pol Pot and Stalin didn't give a flying fuck about genetics, they just killed anyone who was even a remote threat to their power.
