I think atheism is harmful to society and an abuse of the first amendment, like shouting "Fire" in a theater.
There is so much fail here that it’s difficult to unpack it all. I’ll try though:
- Atheism is a lack of belief in God or gods. It falls squarely under freedom of religion, and has nothing whatsoever to do with speech
- If an atheist chooses to air the reasons for his non-belief, that speech is protected by the First Amendment without question!
- Atheism doesn’t pose a public health risk, so your comparison is garbage.
And one place it most certaily doesn't belong, and most certainly is deletrious is on the battlefield where morale and faith is everything to the mind of a soldier.
Tell that to the US Department of Defense, which is sending convicts and otherwise unsteady people into battle as cannon fodder:

I'm not ashamed of myself for this belief.
You fucking ought to be! But then again, it’s simply part of the irony that those who should be most ashamed are often the least likely to demonstrate that much self-awareness.
If they could courts martial this guy, I'd be all for it. I think they should discharge him immediately. I don't think they should allow atheists to serve in he military.
Court martial him for WHAT, you raving fucktard - disagreeing with the majority belief system?
I'm surprised the commander didn't pull out his 9 and cap him right then and there.
And I’m surprised you can use a computer, being as you're without a working brain. Hell, I’m surprised you can still breathe!
We're talking about Iraq. WE'RE TALKING ABOUT DEFENDING THE WORLD AGAINST FUNDAMENTALISM that would have all our heads cut off. Atheists are the ones who are marginalized in this war. This is between competing religions for world domination.
Is there an award for people who lack even the most basic level of self-awareness?
