Quote# 49965

For thousands of years, people believed that the Earth was stationary and that the sun orbited us as all the references in the Bible talk about the Earth being fixed and the sun doing the moving.

In the 1500’s, Polish astronomer Copernicus published a book which put forward a theory that the Earth was in fact orbiting the sun and that it was the sun that was the centre of the universe.

This has since been dropped in favour of another theory which proposes that the Earth is just an insignificant spec in the universe, and it is this theory that we accept today and have been conditioned to believe all of our lives. But is it true?
On this web site, Malcolm Bowden reveals 4 scientific experiments that prove that the Biblical view is correct and that we do live in a geocentric universe.

Why does this destroy the evolution theory? - It proves the universe was planned.

Ha Ha Ha Ha...

... the most recent 'experiment' Malcolm cites was conducted in 1925!!!

Ha Ha Ha ...

Crap, I think I just wet myself.

No, it proves you're a gullible sap, or a cretin who will cite discredited sources as long as it supports your lame position.

Oh, for crying out loud.

Another of the hundreds of cranks who are convinced they've disproved Einstein. There's a whole cottage industry of them.

"Experiments" and crank theories debunked nearly a century ago. Is that all you've got?

The "aether"?!?

:-D

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA...that was tossed out of serious scientific circles like what????.... 100+ years ago??

LOL, its Cretins like this who really do credit to the Bible. They follow every verse literally.

Doesn't disprove theistic evolution, anyway.

Let me see these 4 arguments..

WTF it's a video? What a noob!

http://stationaryearth.org/?page_id=7

*while listening*

He appears to be invoking some sort of.. fucking ether?
He's talking about a metaphor where a lake is the universe and a small boat is earth.
"Put your hand in the water"
THERE IS NO WATER STUPID

He goes on to discuss the Michaelson-Morley experiment, which was supposed to prove or disprove the existence of the luminiferous ether.
Then Einstein's theory of relativity. And the ether was disproved. Well, duh.
And the rest doesn't make any damn sense, at least partially BECAUSE IT'S A FUCKING VIDEO. FUCK THAT SHIT.

Anyway, he seems to assume the ether exists and that makes it all... I couldn't even follow.

Wonder if he knows "Dr." Garvan Ellison?

@Dotyrs

If these people are anything at all like the Flat Earth Society, they'll just feel that NASA is big conspiracy. That is being paid for by the government to brain wash people into believing that the earth moves.

Whoa! Thanks for catching me up, Malcolm.

it's bullshit, the experiments are bullshit.

what's this prove, creationists prefer bullshit to reality.

you will never disprove evolution because the theory weeds out bullshit

Mrs. Antichrist

The video is hilarious. I'm only part-way through it, and I already know where he's going with his little "tug-boat VS large ship" scenario...

Edit: Bwaahahhaha, just as I suspected -- the Michelson-Morley experiments? Are you fucking kidding me? The only thing those experiments proved was that the "aether" hypothesis was complete bullshit.

This idiot's whole argument is based upon the assumption that "aether" exists, when it was disproved over a century ago.

But, hey, this guy is wearing a dress shirt and tie, so he MUST be right!

Edit 2: I love how he brings up the theory of relativity and claims that it's "self-contradicting", then pauses for a moment and seems to realize he doesn't actually know anything about the theory of relativity, so he quickly changes the subject.

@anonymous: Trust me, you're not alone. His arguments are so scientifically backwards that it's almost impossible to follow them.

Why does this destroy your credibility? We have the mars rover. We win.

Aether? Fucking aether?!?!

That stuff (the medium light was supposed to travel through) was disproved a long long time ago.

Bloody hell. What next? Epicycles? A firmament?

How, in this day and age, can a mind get so royally screwed up? Seriously, this dude should sue whoever did this to him. I think it qualifies as mental abuse.

It is intersting to note that because they tried to do away with the Eather NSA has proposed dark matter = Eather but under another name. Further visit thr NASA web site and see the qiuestioons being asked about why thepioneer space craft are being turned from theit course. They are asking if it isn't dark matter which = Eather.
It's about time you men who are clearly still wet behind your ears start asking questions and stop regurgitating what you have studied. Show some respect. After all you knew nothing about what this man is talking about until he said it.

If not Poe:

@#1390866: Your statement is incorrect on so many levels that I cannot describe them all here, so please educate yourself. I recommend the Wikipedia articles on dark matter as a starting point, and also the article on the Pioneer anomaly (which is entirely explained by each spacecraft being hotter on the side nearest its generator and has nothing to do with dark matter or any physics beyond Maxwell's equations).

Also, your personal attacks are quite misplaced. I am a postdoctoral scholar in an astrophysics department. Asking questions about physics is how I have made my living for the last eight years. And what makes you think that I (or any of the other commenters here), am a man? You may not have heard, but there are girls on the internet.

Re. Bowden: I have no need to show respect to someone whose Arguments Are Invalid and whose statements are disproven four separate ways in every freshman astronomy class. We have Doppler shift, planetary motion, parallax, and stellar aberration. He is wrong.
