I hope this movie (Religulous) is not seen. How many unbelievers is this nut job, going to make out of his reprobate ways, and movie. I would never, ever, see this type of movie. Yoy know. atheist, a few years back, did not do so publicly, they kept in the closet, and were not considered the norm. Where has the US, went wrong?

Nutjobs don't make unbelievers. Reality does, aided by applying critical thought to previously unknown information or unquestioned assumptions.
When more people start doing that, they become more visible as a group, and more willing to publicly state and defend their opinions. Doing so without fear of reprisal is a hallmark of a free society. Got something against democracy, have we, lightgoneoff?
A wise man once said "I may disagree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it." That's one of the freedoms you apparently take for granted living in this country.

If the movie had obvious lies in it, you would want people to see the movie, to see the lies. The reality is, the movie has truth that you don't want people to know about. (And also that you lie so much to yourself, it's unrealistic to expect you not to lie to everyone else).

This isn't really new, though. Religious influence (and thus the amount of flak that religion receives) has waxed and waned in our country since it was just a loose collection of colonies. This is just the middle of yet another waning period (or waxing...hard to tell) where even people amongst your own ranks feel free to poke fun at the corruption and ridiculousness of it all. The difference this time, though, is that there are more people who are outright willing to be called atheists, and people are more informed about the rationale for other religions and non-religion. So, there may not be an upturn this time around. But still, the downturn itself is nothing new.
Up until a few years ago, atheists were just a rumor, were few in number, and did not openly reveal themselves. Now, all of a sudden, they appear out of nowhere, and with a movie even!

I've heard (i.e., read reviews online) that the movie is much better if you agree with Mahr. Which I do. (I believe he's a Diest and I'm an agnostic/Diest. He stated on Larry King once (a few years ago, I think) that he believes in "God, but not a story about a talking snake.") But, I don't want to pay ten bucks to see a movie I'd need to drive out of my way to see, so I'll just wait three months for the DVD. But I definitely would like to see it.

We saw Religulous last weekend. It was a lot of fun making fun of bat shit crazy fundies. Religulous covered the three Abrahamic religions. Lots of sound bites edited for maximum humour. Expelled, on the otherhand, edited to sound bites only to make ID look more credible than evolution.
Then please, improve our lives and yours and leave. We're not going anywhere, and it's obvious you can't deal, so end your misery.

You ever been in a closet? It's cramped, it's dark, there isn't very good ventilation and no bathroom. After a while, you have to leave the closet and join the rest of the world. But the kick is, you still have to be the same person you were while you were in the closet. And if the outside world doesn't like it, then what? Do you change who you are? Funny, you Jeebus-guys are always going on about how the world hates who you are, and yet you don't change? But you expect people you disagree with to? Can you spell H-Y-P-O-C-R-A-S-Y?
