Quote# 80426

Hi All,
I was thinking about this past few days - it seems plausible; could large dinosaurs have been employed to move the massive stones required to build the pyramids? Also, were the pyramids constructed before the flood? It would seem to me they were assuming the flood took place around 2350 B.C. -

This would also explain why violence filled the earth in those days. So the question; were the pyramids built before the flood and if so, were dinosaurs used to move the stones?

They did not use really big dinosaurs. They used really big whips.

Hay countitjoy, The Flintstones isn't a documentary.

Yes, the T-Rex's mighty arms would have been perfect for picking up huge stones. Makes sense.

They didn't even use whips. They just had a team of professional pyramid builders.

And Fred Flintstone was the site foreman.

"I was thinking about this past few days"

This is what passes for "thinking" among fundies.

Well, the answer, no.

No, it's not plausible.
No, they did not use large dinosaurs when building the pyramids.
As there have been no world-wide flood yet, the pyramids were definitely built before the comming flood.

The Egyptians were meticulous documenters; if they had used dinosaurs, we would see dinosaur pictograms on the walls in the pyramids.
I don't know how meticulous the Mayans, the Mesopotamians and all the others, were while building their pyramids, though.
Oh, you didn't know that anyone else, apart from Egyptians, made pyramid, did you?

After the flood of course - the flood that was powerful enough to create the grand canyon would have swept those puny pyramids aside too.

Dinosaurs were obviously used for construction work - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PPf3aaZmUw

Yes, in fact they were used not only for building pyramids but as lawnmowers, garbage disposals, and washing machines. They provided every convenience the modern stone age family could ever want.

The responses to countitjoy's post are even better:

Mate, the stones used to build the pyramid was carted hundreds of miles away across at least two mountain chains, and down the river. I believe that they used a from of aerial transport. The Egyptians had a good knowledge of aerodynamics, electrical lighting and an advance knowledge of many things. People seem to see Egyptians as ancient unintelligent people.

Aerodynamics to haul stones weighing dozens, if not hundreds, of tons?! Electrical lighting?! Wow...

The bible does not mention the Pyramids so they were built without God's permission. Satan has many powers and could have helped the Egyptians, it's not beyond possibility. Remember what happened to those who first disturbed the tomb of Tutankhamen. The evil spirits were unleashed upon them. There is greater mystery in the hidden world than in so called reality. Read the bible and perhaps clarity on the point can be interpreted.

And still more craziness ensues.

Yeah, but then the dinosaurs formed a union and went on strike. Then the Egyptians killed them all. That is why they disappeared.

For the win!

Sadly, this is what religion does to people. It keeps them stupid. And if you don't agree, then you're probably one of the people who believe that dinosaurs helped build the pyramids.

Yes, really think about that. If the world is that young, the great flood would have wiped out some of the greatest ancient civilizations. Yet they remained intact. Really let that sink in.

Easy one. Yes and no. Yes, the pyramids were built before the flood, since a worldwide flood hasn't even happened, so far. And no, dinosaurs weren't used to move the stones but were used as living battle tanks against the alien invaders.

Oh, come on! Everyone knows the pyramids were built by space aliens who were controlled by Egyptian leaders who had mastered a particular chord on their guitars...

You ask for a citation? Well, it was documented in a recent episode of the documentary series Phineas and Ferb. Here's a video that includes this important factual information:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euSVP6SMkiQ&fmt=22

Note, you can ignore the dinosaur references in this documentary. They're not entirely relevant to the discussion of the pyramids unless you factor in the possibility that the dinosaurs might have fought the aliens, but that specific point is unanswered...

Actually, there is considerable evidence that the people who built the pyramids were not only Egyptians themselves, but eager to work for their Pharoah.

Large camp/worksites show that workers feasted often on quality meats and that workers were cared for by doctors for injuries and whatnot.

Definitely not slavery here.

That whole dialog chain is precious comedy gold with a fundie fight of dino power vs teleportation used to build the pyramid.

You don't think the hieroglyphics inside the pyramids documenting the efforts of several hundred thousand slaves being relentlessly whipped into moving giant blocks and stacking them into shape would be something of a tipoff?

@praxagora

The feasting and medical benefits was a matter of practicality. Unlike later slave owners of the colonial era and early United States the Egyptians realized a diseased and half-starving workforce would not be up to perfoming such gruelling physical tasks on a daily basis. The crook and flail held by depictions of the Pharoa are tools of the taskmaster. Although actual celebrations might have taken place once the pyramids were done as it's been suggested that slaves were freed after such a grand undertaking.

Edit:

Concerning the biblical flood: You'd think the simple fact that if the sea rose over the highest mountains there'd be saltwater in all the lakes and all the soil of the world would be ruined by salt. That's not even taking into account the water would have nowhere to drain to as the world isn't flat and floating on a giant space turtle with the sea pouring off the edge continuously like they thought it was when the Bible was originally written.

No, it is not plausible that dinosaurs were used to move the stones because dinosaurs and hominids never lived at the same time. People are stronger than you give them credit. There was no flood; we know this because floods leave evidence in the geological record, and there is no evidence for a global flood anywhere in the geological record. I am sorry, but it just isn't there.
