YOU are the reason why we need better gun laws.
You're not allowed to drive while drunk, you shouldn't be allowed to shoot while crazy.

Yeah, everyone's plotting to take your guns away, dammit.

Nope. Never gonna happen. If the US has refused to adopt stricter gun control laws even though every other country in the civilized world has (except Switzerland, for some strange reason, but then again, Switzerland is also the country that didn't let women vote until the nineties and lets any and every dictator have financial security for life) then I highly doubt that it will ever be illegal for violent criminals to have access to semiautomatic weapons on US soil.

Swiss have guns stored at home because the citizens form a true citizens' militia.
They don't play with guns in the same way as US citizens seem to

The anti-gun crowd has begun their backdoor approach to gun control.
The Blue Helmets will be coming, and they are coming to take away our guns, as well as our Constitution.
Whereas we'll be given our death sticks back by the purple helmets through the front door :-3

The UN has supposedly been coming for our guns for 30 years now. They seem to be awful inept at actually making it happen.

No, the second amendment is not remotely like the first. The first amendment is actually useful. The second amendment is a destructive sacred cow.

This sounds like it's a takeoff on one of last year's best wacky NRA conspiracy theories: that because Obama has failed to push any gun-control legislation at all, this is somehow evidence that he's about to swoop down and seize all weapons.

Gun control != gun ban. Here in the UK, guns are very, very heavily controlled, but you can still have one if you can prove you're not a crazy person and such. I don't think you're allowed quite the range of firearms you're allowed over there, but really, what were you planning on doing with that asssault rifle? Hunting?
@Atheissimo - If one is seriously under the impression that Obama is suddenly going to take away everyone's guns, overturn the Constitution, and remain indefinite overlord of the USA, that would be grounds enough for me to consider them way too crazy to own a firearm. The very fact they think they need an M16 or something pretty much means they shouldn't have one.
I get the whole organised militia thing, though, and even kind of like the concept, but as you say, the huge gulf between some nutter in his back garden and a highly trained and well equipped professional soldier renders the concept hilariously obsolete.

I always wonder just what the gun nuts think they're going to do if one morning the 82nd Airborne bashes in their front door. I have a feeling they'll just meekly turn over their guns and hope, beg and pray to be left alone. For all their tough talk, most of the RKBA types in this country don't have the balls to shoot a cop or a Marine.

Yeah, the invincible force of those for-hire UN soldiers from Bangladesh and Pakistan. Members of actual competent military forces refer to them as "speed bumps."

I have a conspiracy. What if the whole myth of "Blue Helmets" coming to seize weapons was actually something that the marketing department of some gun or ammo company dreamed up to sell more products. One that got out of control very quickly.

This isn't the pro-hunting lobby talking, this is the people who genuinely think they need the guns to prevent Obama's blackshirts breaking down their doors and carting them off in the middle of the night, as has obviously happened in all those yellow belly European countries.
Arming a well ordered militia made sense back when there wasn't an awful lot of difference between the weapons and training of the militia compared with the enemy soldiers. Nowadays with military budgets being what they are and training being extremely professional, it's nowhere near the same.

"These people have their positions because George Soros and Michael Bloomberg bought and paid for those jobs."
Yeah, no one could come up with a desire for gun control simply from his intellect or conscience.
"The Blue Helmets will be coming, and they are coming to take away our guns, as well as our Constitution."
Yeah, just like they did in, uh, um... well, uh. Nevermind! I want it to be true, so it is.

Actually, I believe the Swiss gave women the vote in 1971. But that's still pretty bad, though, how late it is compared to the other western countries.

If you're going to have a shadowy cabal in your NWO conspiracy theory, pick a organization more powerful than the limp and ineffective UN. They couldn't stop the Serbian army from massacring Muslims in Srebrenica, yet you think they have enough power to disarm a continent spanning country?

An ineffectual organization indeed.
One made rather ineffectual by the US's Veto on the security council.
I think these people have no idea what the UN really does or how it works.

I'm thinking rthomas4 owns or is involved in the firearms trade. nothing like driving up the sales and prices of firearms and ammunition than to throw a pseudo gun ban scare into the gun-nuts.

You know, just a few days ago a bunch of crazy people tried to bring guns, explosives, throwing knives, and several other weapons on airplanes. Clearly we Americans are not capable of responsibly having guns, so I really wouldn't mind too much if they were banned.
