I understand DNA very well, but it seems that most of you do not. If anyone knew the complexity of a single strand of DNA, you would know it would be impossible for it to spontaneously combust from gases.

For those of you who do not know the complexity of it, let me tell you. You would have a better chance of throwing paint in the air and it falling to the ground to paint an exact "Mona Lisa" painting, Now multiply that by 100.

It would be as though you remove all the letters from all the books in the U.S. Library of Congress, jumble them, and randomly place the letters back, creating an exact match.

But hey, it took billions of years right? So hey, just use your imagination.

I'm pretty sure this is totally fucking wrong...but I don't really know, I'm ignorant in biochemistry, just like I have to assume Heaven-Sent is.

I'm not above ad hominem.

Mystik Spiral

Why is it impossible to spontaneously combust from gases (whatever that means) but "Goddidit" is completely realistic and rational?

Also, first for once!!! :D

Edit: Dammit, not first. :(

Well, at least nature has imagination. I have no idea what you use your supposed brain for, though.

Wow, they did a different analogy from the usual ones about watches and 747's. Same bullshit, different name.

Yes of course, heaven sent who has probably never studied DNA obviously knows way more than a fucking scientist who dedicates all of his time to understanding it.

Oi! Nutter!

I think you are confused by the use of grown-up words. The smart people might be referring to the study of the effect of spontaneous twist, not spontaneous combustion.
You might find more information here: http://www.bioportfolio.com/resources/pmarticle/107878/Effect-Of-Spontaneous-Twist-On-Dna-Minicircles.html

Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.

You know DNA well? Goody, then just how exactly does DNA not spontaneously combust from gases? That is...how does it catch on fire...??? Or not catch on fire??? From gases??? I didnt know DNA was in a gaseous state. I suspect from your statement, you dont have a clue about the complexity of it that you claim. Now multiply THAT by 100......

That's yet to be seen, but seeing as how you don't even understand what spontaneous combustion is, I'm leaning towards you not understanding DNA either. It wouldn't surprise me if you didn't understand crosswalks, the manual operation of a spoon, or door knobs either.

7/29/2012 10:57:04 PM

It took billions of years, yes, and it probably came about one piece at a time, at least at first. Like when you write a book, you start with the first letter, then go onto the next letter and the next and the one after that.

You do know that it started from zero, right? It didn't start with something whole and complete that was torn apart and then put together again.

I do NOT understand DNA very well, as I haven't studied it for decades and decades, as the real experts have. I just learned about it in Biology classes in school, which gives a very sketchy picture of it. I'd still be prepared to bet that I know more about DNA than you do, HS. Ya know; the ones who know next to nothing think they're experts and then ones who know next to everything, know they know very little.

Willful ignorance should be a sin, should it not?

Hey, look! More rehashes of the Junkyard Hurricane Boeing 747 argument.

Now what does DNA stand for? Dumbass Numpty Assertion?

Leighton Buzzard

The Library of Congress is made up of words formed from 26 letters. DNA has only four. You were saying?

Spontaneously to split infinitives...

The English language suffers and aches with pain from such bad style.

I'll throw the paint up as long as you lay on the ground where it's supposed to fall.

7/30/2012 2:33:35 AM

Um, spontaneous actions -- whatever they may be -- don't take billions of years.

I thought you said you understand DNA very well?

Mister Spak

I understand DNA very well, but it seems you do not. If you knew anything about DNA you would know it does not form from spontaneously combusting gases. Only a christian would believe something as stupid as that.

OTOH, stupid . . .

7/30/2012 5:01:10 AM

'I understand DNA very well, but it seems that most of you do not.'

Sure ya do! I'm sure your much smarter than us folks, and not at all deluded.

'If anyone knew the complexity of a single strand of DNA, you would know it would be impossible for it to spontaneously combust from gases.'

So, you understand it very well, and yet you use the word 'combust' to describe it and totally mislead everyone with your decription. Either this is Lying For Jesus or he's deluded.

I understand DNA goood...I learned it from a boook!

This entire thread on Christian Forums is a gold-mine of stupidity just pouring from Heaven-Sent's otherwise empty head.
