Hehehehehe... And when they lose the recount, no doubt they will refuse to recognize the legitimate government - its the Leftist way... It happened like clockwork in Mexico...
I expect that to occur here in the US if the left loses in '08... All this irrational screeching and gnashing of teeth that we have endured from the looney left over the last 8 years is just they way of working up their nerve to take violent action next time...
What the left cannot win at the ballot box they will take by violence...

If you believe strongly enough that the other side will use violence or other unfair methods, you can more easily justify pre-emptive use of unfair methods yourself. It still does not make it right. The left in Canada (the USA has no viable leftist political party) has been trying for decades to win at the ballot box. They have not resorted to violence and apart from governing a few provinces for a while, they have been unsuccessful.
Historically, it has been pretty much proven in the United States that it is far, far more likely for the political right to respond to a loss with force than the political left.
Name me one Citizen Militia that has "SOCIALIZED MEDICINE!" or "SOCIAL JUSTICE FOR MINORITIES!" stitched on their arm surplus camos.
Hahahahah hahahahahaah hahaha. Calderón might be the legal president, but legitimate? Not by a long shot. The only way that he could have been legitimated was by doing a full recount of the votes, the margin was WAAAAAAY too close to be certain of the results.
It was not done, it will enver be done, and now we have 3 presidentrs that are less than one :V

Because they're always the ones who start the wars, aren't they? /sarcasm
anybody to the left of Ann Coulter, which is about 80% of the US.
That implies that 20% are either even with her or further right. That's scary as fuck, if true.
Crosis: "I absolutely do not trust electronic voting machines that don't give you a paper printout of your ballot."
If I were you, I'd rethink the second part of that statement .
Go here for more detailed analysis on that video.
As long as that's out there and stories like the ones mentioned here continue to crop up, I won't hesitate to question every single vote that was registered electronically.
The fascinating thing about this is, throughout history a tyrranical regime might kill millions in an effort to maintain power, be it feudalistic, a monarchy, or just the rich and powerful exploiting the poor - but the minute they finally have a gutful and start a revolution or the like, fuckwits like this guy call them violent.
I'm not nuts about the Dems, I think they're too s0cia1ist for my tastes, but the Republicans are far worse. At the very least the Dems give a damn about the people, which is more than I can say about George "Let's veto the stem cell bill" W. Bush.
(Edit: The spam filters think s0cia1ist is spam...?)

It's more that at least a recount is possible if something seems wrong. (BTW, it appears the example you give is of a paperless machine.) A voter can verify the paper printout, and if it prints the wrong votes they can tell someone. In that case, the electronic machine can give you a quick count if there is no problem, and if there's a recount needed you can do a hand count.
Leftists are peaceniks, remember? It's right-wing reactionaries who are the leaders of the National Rifle Association and so on; if there's ever a violent response to an election, I expect it to come from outraged conservatives whose "right" to oppress others is suddenly threatened.

Sadly, there is no useful left-wing party in the United States. The Democrats are conservative, the Republicans are whacked-out wingnuts, and no other parties have a chance at winning.
That's the problem with a two-party winner-takes-all system. In theory, both parties stay towards the center because a party that goes too far to the left or right will lose votes. The problem is that the Republicans have developed tactics that enable them to manipulate ignorant voters or even steal elections outright. Since the Republicans can become as right-wing as they like, the Democrats have no pressing reason to remain in the center.
After all, if the Republicans are so far right that they border on fascist, the Democrats can become extremely conservative and still be the most left-wing party. Liberals and moderates are forced to vote for the lesser of two evils.
In general, conservatives are more likely to steal elections in order to suppress a leader they don't like (2000 presidential election, Diebold voting machines), and conservatives are more likely to resort to violence rather than accept a leader they don't like. (1860 presidential election, Civil War) Liberals, however, are more likely to get rid of a dictatorial or oppressive leader. (Revolutionary War)
