I am worried about my Mom. She told me yesterday that she loves Obama. So I asked her, "Do you love Jesus?" She said, He's not Jesus. I said, "I know". So do you love Jesus? No reply. Then we were interrupted.
So I asked her again later. "You said that you love Obama but do you love Jesus." She said, "Well he is here and now. "But do you love Jesus?" "What does that have to do with anything?" I said,"I am making sure that you aren't putting man before Jesus." She wouldn't say that she loved Jesus and she has been a Christian for well over 50 years.

I can't quite figure this one out. Your mother said she loves Obama so what, you took that to mean she has real emotional feelings of love for him and wasn't just using love as a figure of speech? If you get that one can say they love someone without actually having strong feelings of love for that person, then your follow up rant is beyond irrational. If you don't get that then you're mentally retarded.

Obviously, you can only really love Jesus or Obama. If mom claims she loves Jesus and Obama, then the super concerned good christian daughter has to grill her about Obama and tell her all the 'horrible' stuff he's done/will probably do in hopes mom will abandon her Obama lovin'. If she claims she loves Obama and doesn't brown-nose for Jesus, then she has obviously fallen to the dark side. You must praise Jesus all the time. Obama is nothing but trouble! Duh.

Sadly, this reminds me of the story about the parents who begged their dying 15 year old daughter to accept Jesus on her deathbed, and took off the oxygen mask to hear her accept him, then go upset because the daughter bitched at mom and dad and died "unsaved".

1. He's not a U.S. citizen.
2. He's either dead or never existed to begin with.
Tragically I've seen this time and again.
Those who have no faith and no belief forcing what they were exposed to as a child onto their own children from some misplaced concept that religion is proper to indoctrinate children into.
Later in life they often find that their own parents were the same way. In growing up and facing reality their faith faded and left.
Whole chains of families, torturing each other. So incredibly sad. The adults trying fervently to believe, and forcing these strained beliefs onto the next generation, doomed to follow the same path.
