Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee says that Democrats are pushing women to believe “they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government.”
The onetime presidential candidate made the comments to the Republican National Committee’s Winter Meeting in Washington D.C.
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee talks Thursday in Washington, D.C., at the RNC Winter Meetings.
"If the Democrats want to insult women by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it," he said. "Let us take this discussion all across America because women are far more than the Democrats have played them to be."
“And women across America need to stand up and say ‘Enough of that nonsense,'" he added.
Huckabee dismissed the notion that the GOP is engaged on a "War on Women," as Democratic rivals allege.
"Our party stands for the recognition of the equality of women and the capacity of women. That’s not a war on them, it’s a war for them," he said.

And Mike seems to fail to understand that hormonal contraception is used for much more than birth control. It is used to stabilize irregular periods, decrease the severity of cramping, and much more. On top of that, the ACA is not a free hand out for prescription medication at the government's expense. In short, Mike is an idiot.
Yeah, the Dems really insult women by supporting access to contraception. Unlike the Repubs who call women sluts and whores for using the pill and state that if they want insurance to cover contraception then that means they are placing a burden on everyone else for having lusty sexy-tiems. And then you have this pixie-stick-dick of a shit-brain with the "Uncle Sugar" BS, more slut shaming, and he has the gall to blame the Democrats for treating women badly. Just, WHAT?
Women do not believe they are helpless without the government. Democrats do not want insurance to cover contraception because they believe that women cannot control their libido or girly parts. Dems want women to be able to control their reproduction systems, ffs. Something the Repubs do not want, ever, end of story. If a woman cannot pay for hormonal birth control out of her own pocket when her insurance won't cover it, what is the Repubs response?? Well, tough shit, basically. They ignore the fact that women take the pill for reasons besides birth control. And they would say just don't have sex or else get pregnant and have a baby, whether or not you want it or can afford it. Yeah, that's totally what women should want. Riiight.

OH, LOLLERSKATES! Just more proof that the GOP resides in Bizarro World on a permanent basis.
Honestly, some of these Republicans might as well just come out and say "women are near useless and certainly stupid, all you girlys need to do is shut-up and get supper ready while we decide what to do with you."
He followed criticism on the shit by claiming that's what Democrats think, not Republicans. Bullshit Mike, that's Right-Wing echo chamber garbage, your crowd applauded the concept itself.
So your plan to fight for them is to deny them basic medical services, equality under the law, the freedom to make their own choices about their bodies, and to minimize, marginalize, and ignore their voices as you make these decisions for them? Not to mention forcing all women into a moral code of behavior based on a Bronze Age holy book many of them do not recognize as legitimate...
I'm glad you're not fighting for me.
That’s not a war on them, it’s a war for them
It's very simple. We want you to be what Jeebus created you to be; honorable and obedient. So just stop being a slut on the government teat and make me a sammich.

It seems that this speech has helped Huckerbee to become front-runner in the polls for 2016 Republican nominee.
I took the pill to control severe menstrual bleeding. It worked great.
Keep talking, Mike. The Democrats will appreciate all those women's votes next election.
Isn't that exactly what the Republicans are doing? They're telling women "You can't control your libidos, so we're going to take away contraception and the right to an abortion and force you to not have sex or pay the consequences."
Anyway, I hope that outreach to female voters is going well.
So, what are you going to do for us who don't seem able to reproduce? Can we have "uncontrolled" libido all we want?
If you want to recognize the equality of women, you have to recognize that women have the same right as men do to sleep around.
Not only is he clueless about the pill, he's clueless about about the law. The government isn't providing anything, and the pill isn't "free". Women are paying premiums for policies that are required to cover that expense, just like they do thousands of other drugs and procedures.
Yet, if the government decided that insurance shouldn't pay for their ED meds (for which the only use is to have sex, unlike birth control), these men would be screaming bloody murder. How dare the government attempt to interfere with their libidos.

...But wasn't it conservatives who said that women who used contraception, especially those who wanted it covered by insurance and/or tax dollars, were some kind of sex-crazed sluts who couldn't control their own libidos?
What a short memory you have, Mike.
Confused?
