Jesus Christ / the concept of Satan asides, that's actually kind of true to some degree. Otherwise, I can totally imagine Jerry speaking in a normal voice and then screaming "Jesus" and "Satan" respectively. That all being said, sports are a distraction, not necessarily a diabolic one (this latter clause brought the quote all the way here, I suppose).
So people aren't even allowed to keep themselves entertained until Jesus arrives? Granted, I know the sport is ultimately meaningless but so are games, movies, and music. Ultimately you can make the point that anything that doesn't contribute directly to our survival as a species is meaningless. But, that still doesn't change the fact that people want to be entertained and that sports are one of those sources of entertainment. If Jesus has a problem with us being entertained then he shouldn't have made it our nature to enjoy and even crave it.
Wrong! Nascar has satan all over it; just look at the majority of it's fans.
Nowhere near them but I'm partial to the Saints; I like their color scheme. Pats are good too. Actually I like any team that beats the Cowboys & the Cardinals.

Go spout that in British pub and you'll meet your maker sooner than you think...
I think the person is talking about American Pineapple, you know where some brutes are walking around with some pineapple shaped object in full body armour.

Granted, concerning a certain aspect of the game, there is an undeniable element of lusty sinful temptation involved:

Hmm, perhaps Satan does have his good side. ;-)
If this is American football, Old Viking is right. As for soccer... pretty much just a bunch of men running after an inflated balloon. One simply wonders why it became a religion in itself (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9vbPXm2Wj8 ), to the point that it can (if Jerry is referring to soccer) be considered a false religion.
@Old Viking and Sasha
Aside from the heavy padding, the same is true of rugby. I know people who travel the world to watch big games. Me, I wouldn't cross the road to watch that crap. Just how thick do you have to be to think you can run through a wall of blokes who are built like a cross between Hulk Hogan and a brick shithouse?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
