(emphasis added):
"Funny how the left is all about protecting religious freedom when it comes to building the mosque, but totally against the freedom to burn korans."
ilovesarah2012, ask yourself this question:
Where did Pastor Terry Jones get all those copies of the Quran (if he even did actually get them in the first place)? He surely couldn't have gone to several bookshops and... (*gasp!*) shoplifted them?!111one1? Say it ain't so?! That would go against the 8th Commandment, would it not?! Therefore (if he did obtain them), he must have bought them.
Now, remember a few years ago, when a bunch of fundies said they'd burn videos/DVDs of "South Park"? It's creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone said they'd even participate in said burning, as long as each of the fundies bought five copies of "SP".
You do the maths, ilovesarah2012. A clue for free:
PROTIP: The companies who create, manufacture and distribute records, tapes, DVD/Blu-Rays, and books frankly couldn't give a flying fuck what the punters do with their products. They've got your money.
My physician's (who is a Sufi Muslim) opinion on the whole palaver? 'Isn't it silly to waste so much money on something you're only going to destroy?'
Never a truer word said.
"but totally against the freedom to burn korans."
What would your opinion be on the fact that I have several Bibles I keep handy whenever I run out of bog paper. The paper used in Bibles is sooooo absorbent! Do I have the right to use Bibles in this way? (check one):
[ ] Yes. So if you complain about my using said Bibles in this way, you expose your hypocrisy.
[ ] No. Therefore in turn, you & your ilk forfeit the right to freedom of speech in perpetuity. Otherwise, you expose your hypocrisy.
Choose wisely. Either way, you're fucked.
PROTIP: Those Bibles I have, to use as emergency bog paper? They were in a rubbish skip (thus I 'recycled' them; they were only going to end up in a landfill somewhere otherwise) outside a nearby Baptist church that had closed due to lack of interest. (That was a couple of years ago. Since then, the property owners leased said premises out to a brewery chain who converted said church into a pub/nightclub. The moral of this story? Irony. 'Tis a cruel bitch eh, fundies?! >:D )
