["No atheist ever burned a witch,"]
Only because atheism was only invented after we all stopped believing in witches.

Atheism is the default belief system, everywhere since history began.
It's the only one you can develop by yourself
Eli Whitney invented atheism right after he invented the cotton gin.
Also, George Washington Carver discovered over 500 uses for atheism. Little known fact.
You're not suggesting that Darwin "invented" atheism are you? Historical records show it was invented in 1677 in London by a guy named Sidney Fabersham. Once word started getting around, the clergy were none too pleased, I can tell you that!
No, I suspect that even around the time witches were being burned at the stake, there were those who knew the whole thing was bollocks. Admitting it would get you burned too, though.
Feel that Christian love.
Quote "Only because atheism was only invented after we all stopped believing in witches."
Wait...What?! The majority of people in Europe were Christians back then. If you are saying that the existence of witches was just made up by people just like atheism then you are saying that Christians imagined both. Wouldn't that make Christians kinda psychotic?
1. Witches still exist, it's a practice that has nothing to do with the stereotype that the bastard Christians made up.
2. Atheism existed before your religion, it just wasn't popular back then.
3. The reason why Atheists never burn witches cause they are not so deluded into believing that peaceful people are their enemies.
I own a great book called "2000 years of Disbelief" by James A. Haught. It's truly one of my favorite books. I was surprised how many famous people were freethinkers, as they used to be called.
The first chapter is dedicated to the ancients and the first quote is from Aristohanes (448-380BCE) Athenian comic/poet.
So people have been disbelieving for more than 2000 years.
"and a positive agenda ("Whatever is convenient is right" is a common one; conformity to some subset of societal values, in other words)."
Diagoras of Melos. 5th century, BCE. Look him up.
I'm pretty sure there were others before good ol' Diagoras as there's a pretty good likely hood that there was some rational soul around when the first caveman claimed "god" caused lightning/thunder/disease/etc.
Exodus 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
1 Samuel Ch28 The story of Saul and the Witch of Endor.
Your own holy book tells you witches exist, how can you not believe in them?
So logically that must mean that fundies can't see me, right?
Wait...then why are they always up my ass to convert?
...after we all stopped believing in witches.
- So you no longer believe in the Bible when it says that 'thou shallt not suffer a witch to live'?
Wow, a fundie who's jettisoning the bible!
People are pretty much born as atheists, that is, until their families and local churches get involved.
You don't start life with a belief in gods, that's passed on later.
That's right - the timeline goes: Pong, Atari, witch-burning, ColecoVision, Intellivision, Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Playstation, XBox, Gamecube, atheism, Wii.
Diagoras of Melos, BITCH! {ancient Greek atheist, 5th century BCE).
As long as humans have been worshipping gods, there have undoubtedly been people that disbelieved in those gods.
And actually there are still people that kill people for being "witches" in some African countries.
"Only because atheism was only invented after we all stopped believing in witches."
...that, and Madoka, Homura, Sayaka, Mami & Kyoko made sure of that, Roger P. Arse. :3
And on that vein, a little something to fuck up Gene Ray:
