The problem with going along with gay marriages with no children is that once those are allowed, then the gay groups will demand all gay marriages be accepted. Then I will have a problem with gays denying kids a mom and a dad. The kids have a right to a mom and a dad - you could never have that with a gay marriage. Why do gay couples want to deny a child such a basic right?

They're not going to be stealing them from loving homes in the middle of the night. They'll be adopting them. By definition, the kids adopted by gays will either not have any parents to start with, or have parents who don't want them. Nobody's being denied anything. Gays want to give kids parents who don't have any. Do you want to deny children the right to have parents, Jo-Mama?
As the child of a Catholic couple who stayed together because of the kids and the church, I have to say that this logic really irks me. Two parents of opposite genders does not equal good parenting.
In short, I don't care if it is one, two or ten parents of same/mixed genders. Kids don't care either. They want stability, safety, attention and love.
The only thing standing in the way of gay parenting is the attitude of fuckwits like Jo-mama.
You assault single parents everywhere with that comment.
Not once do you mention love or a loving environment in your post, your concern is wholly about gender. It matters not to you whether the kids have a kind, nuturing home, all you care about is having two parents, one with a penis and one with a vagina.
You're insight is non-existant, lost, along with your compassion, in that tiny hole you call your mind.
Excuse me while I go and quote the latest International Legal Standard!
Article 2 from Part I of Convention on the Rights of the Child , G.A. res. 44/25, annex, 44 U.N. GAOR Supp. (No. 49) at 167, U.N. Doc. A/44/49 (1989), entered into force Sept. 2 1990.
Article 2
1. States Parties shall respect and ensure the rights set forth in the present Convention to each child within their jurisdiction without discrimination of any kind, irrespective of the child's or his or her parent's or legal guardian's race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national, ethnic or social origin, property, disability, birth or other status.
2. States Parties shall take all appropriate measures to ensure that the child is protected against all forms of discrimination or punishment on the basis of the status, activities, expressed opinions, or beliefs of the child's parents, legal guardians, or family members.

If they're adopting the kids, then I think it's safe to assume that the kids don't have parents. Or maybe one of them is the kid's biological parent. That can happen too, you know. Why do Fundies always want to see the world in black and white?
Then I will have a problem with gays denying kids a mom and a dad.
Did it perhaps escape you that a homosexual couple CANNOT have naturally conceived children? If anything, they can either adopt one or if they are females, they can undergo an IVF procedure, neither one of which is illegal or immoral, you idiot.
Most marrages these days are shams. Kids end up linving with single parents all the time. It makes no difference what gender the parents are. What does matter is that they love their children and each other.
Since you're a moron and cannot understand that, just do us all a favour and shut the fuck up.
Why do gay couples want to deny a child such a basic right [to a mom and a dad]?
In the US, one in two children will live in a single-parent family at some point in childhood. One in three children is born to unmarried parents. Nearly half of all marriages end in divorce. So that "basic right" wouldn't seem to be so basic after all.
One-third of lesbian households and one-fifth of gay male households already have children - often as a result of a failed attempt at a "straight" relationship. No research has ever shown that gay parents have any affect on the sexuality of their children.
The biggest problem facing kids with gay parents comes not from not having a "mom and a dad", but from stress caused by getting teased at school and having to face homophobes like Jo-mama. If Jo-mama is really concerned for the well-being of the kids, he should stop worrying about giving kids a mom and a dad and start leaving people alone to raise their kids without subjecting them to bigotry. But then again, I doubt he really gives a rat's butt for the kids, except to use them as an argument against gay rights.
So, gay marriages with children, yes, no?, they can adopt children, of course, but the same way that a single person does. I had a kid when I was still single because my cousin died and I was granted custody, am I denying him, my nephew, a basic right?. Please, be consequent.
Why do you want to deny a child their basic right to a loving home? Love is not exclusive to anyone, be they straight, gay, white, black, etc. You'd rather children stay home with abusive heterosexual parents than a gay couple who would take care of them? Priorities, much?
Fundie social worker: Does Billy live here?
Gay parent1: Yes.
FSW: Then we have to take him away. He has the right to a mom and a dad.
*FSW drags Billy out the door*
Billy: Let me go! I love my dads!
Gay parent2: We love you, Billy! We'll fight to get you back!
FSW: We'll get you to a family with real parents as soon as possible.
Billy: But I love my dads!
FSW: Shut up! You don't know what you want!
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
