It is a little scary and in todays world, well you never know. I was looking at apartments awhile back and I saw this really nice one, only one problem with it and I was going to put it on my maybe list when I saw a man and some women walking through the hall, well the women were all wearing burkas and face coverings. Thats when I started thinking, there is no way I can live here, what if they can hear my christian music in the hallway, or my teaching cds I listen to. In the world today, that is just asking for trouble. Not only could I be told that my music and cds were offensive, but due to their religion, I could be in a lot more trouble then that.

Yeah... that could of course happen, or you could move into that other place, where the lone woman who lives next door might be a violent sosiopathic spleen-collector, or... gasp, maybe an unbeliver? Yeah, crazy world innit?
"It is a little scary and in todays world, well you never know."
You never know about what?
"Thats when I started thinking, there is no way I can live here, what if they can hear my christian music in the hallway, or my teaching cds I listen to."
Why do you listen to music so loudly that people who are outside of your apartment can hear it?

First of all, no one's going to harm you because you play excessively loud music once or twice. Secondly, you expressed fear three times in your short post. Such pervasive and irrational feelings of fear may be a sign of an underlying psychiatric condition. Perhaps you should consider undergoing psychoanalysis.
"what if they can hear my christian music in the hallway, or my teaching cds I listen to."
GET
HEADPHONES
And you can't get in trouble for what you do in your own apartment as you long as it doesn't keep them from sleeping.
Remember, we only discriminate against Christianity when it's in the public and the government's paying for it. Nobody can legally stop you from listening to it in your own house, unless you pirated it.
"God I hate them prejudiced, Christ-hating, terrorist-loving primitive backward Muslims, they're so RACIST!"
Geez.
My mom lives in an apartment complex with a lot of diverse cultures, Muslim included. If she were to play a "Christian" song in her apartment, the people there would probably do what they always do:
Go about their own business.
I bet you twenty to one that the women were wearing hijabs and not burkas, as this dumbass is too stupid to know what the difference is, much less what a hijab is. Burkas are really, really, really uncommon amung American Muslims, though hijabs are very common. Statistical probability is that she's full of shit.
If this numbnuts was blaring fundie music into someone else's apartment, they'd probably bitch to management or knock and ask nicely for her to turn it down. (Nicely the first couple of times, and PO'd the next few after that).
They're not seriously going to kill this idiot over some music.
...well the women were all wearing burkas and face coverings...
Strange, I thought xian fundies were all for women covering up their evil selves so as not to tempt teh menz. You should be natural allies.
Frankly, I would be afraid to live next to Evangelical Christians. Plenty of religious Christers turn out to be homicidal (e.g. John List, Dennis Rader, Ted Bundy)
This is an obvious fake.
teaching cds I listen to.
Fundies are incapable of being taught, or becomming more intelligent in any way.

I'm going to guess from your "burkas and face coverings" bit that you don't actually know what a burka is, and assume that they were wearing hijabs.
OH NOES! Islamic people is teh terrors!
The xenophobia is truly amazing at times. These people are only really different by melanin content of skin and accident of birthplace, but good old religion makes them hate, fear and supsect each other. Because the fact is, most likely these people are also afraid to be surrounded by a bunch of paranoid xian bigots.
Or, oh no, shock and horror, you could discover that Muslim people aren't different than you. What a totally scary thought.
It's a good thing to consider your neighbors and whether you would be able to live with them. However, this is just stupid and prejudiced--99% of Muslims are fine, fine people and really don't care much what music you're listening to or what you're doing in your own apartment.
I would laugh, though, if she wound up in an apartment like mine--where everybody except me and one of my roommates is a drug-addicted, alcoholic college student who listens to nothing but gangsta rap twenty-four hours a day, at full blast.
I can't wait to get out of here. I'll take your place in the apartment with the lovely Muslim folks.
I've got mixed feelings about this post. We live with a lot of veiled muslims in our apartment buildings. Now, when we lived in the city they were super nice and pretty "normal". Around here, boy, the "men" are crazy. The women all look like abuse victims but are pretty harmless save for the language barrier. The men - the men - man they give you looks worse than any fundie if you (as a woman) dare to walk around unattended.
On the other hand, if you play your fundie crap music loud enough for me to hear, I'm calling the cops.
Someone should really tell me where the atheists live...
They could have just been Arabic. Everyone must dress like that there, it's the culture. Even the Christian Arabic women wear that.
Besides, I find burkas, without the complete face coverings, very beautiful.
I came to this site to see why the "christian" media were making such vitriolic remarks about it, and to see if it was possible to bring some degree of sanity to it.
However, I have come to see that in view of the content of the "fundie" posts displayed, I can fully understand the ridicule they recieve, and richly so.
An atheist friend of mine once said "the greatest enemy of christianity is the christians" and now I see the wisdom of his jocularity.
This lady gets a 5 from me, soley because there is no 7.
Any music that is so loud that it can be heard outside the apartment is offensive! And yes, if you wake me up with music, well, you will yearn for the Muslims as neighbors!

I was looking at apartments awhile back and I saw this really nice one, only one problem with it and I was going to put it on my maybe list when I saw a man and some women walking through the hall, well the women were all wearing crosses and WWJD bracelets. Thats when I started thinking, there is no way I can live here, what if they can hear my rock music in the hallway, or my teaching cds I listen to. In the world today, that is just asking for trouble. Not only could I be told that my music and cds were offensive, but due to their religion, I could be in a lot more trouble then that.
So you were offended that they might be offended and then promptly dissappeared up your own ass.
You should have taken the flat and the challenge of witnessing to your neighbours - just imagine the jesus points for bagging some muslims!
And now you know what things would be like, if Right-Wing Fundamentalist Christians were to get their way. Saudi Arabia should serve as a warning of what happens when there's no separation of church & state. This is precisely why government should be purely secular. Indeed, just as age (dependent on country) and criminal record are conditions to running for office, another reason should be religious belief. I.e., ONLY Atheists should be allowed political power. Two Words:
Sarah Palin.
Confused?
