[On Salman Rushdie's knighthood:]
"This is an occasion for the (world's) 1.5 billion Muslims to look at the seriousness of this decision," Mohammed Ijaz ul-Haq, religious affairs minister, said in parliament.
"The West is accusing Muslims of extremism and terrorism. If someone exploded a bomb on his body, he would be right to do so unless the British government apologizes and withdraws the 'sir' title," ul-Haq said.

Hey fuck you bomb-belt. If that's the only way you have to "deal" with dissention to your crappy religion then you deserve to live in a cave. If your first reaction is over-reaction, and be-fucking-lieve you me, buddy, blowing someone up for what they say to you is OVER REACTION, then go suck a nut.
As nobody forces the thug to do so, he's the sole responsible person for that, he and all the idiots who back him. Otherwise, your definition of sin is completely useless and you're confirming that muslims are bloody fanatics.
Ah, Muslim fanatics ... "Allah says we have the right to kill anyone, even fellow Muslims, babies or tourists, merely for being in a country where someone does anything that annoys us in any trivial way".
I think this is the attitude that make so many people pissed at Islam. "We are offended! We do not like this man, so you may not like or honor him in any way! You not sharing our outrage offends us even more!" Now I know this is only the vocal idiots saying this kind of crap, but when the rest of the Muslim community just sits there and says nothing, it sure makes it look like the crap is unanimous, doesn't it?
Rushdie is a brilliant writer who deserves the knighthood. The British Crown may recognize whoever she damn well pleases, and non-British citizens don't have any say in the matter, nor should they. You don't like what he wrote? Don't read it. This attitude that no one in the world is allowed to do anything that you find insulting, and anyone who does should be killed, is getting really damn old, people. Grow a thicker skin or go sit in a tent in the wasteland and gloat about how holy you are. You want to be part of the world community? Learn that you aren't the only voice in that community.
(That last part goes for all the idiot Christian fundies, as well.)
"We're a Religion of Peace, and we'll kill anyone who says differently!"
Sweet mother of Jebus and the immaculate ejaculation, these people are stupid.
(1) "The West is accusing Muslims of extremism and terrorism....
(2) If someone exploded a bomb on his body, he would be right to do so unless the British government apologizes and withdraws the 'sir' title," ul-Haq said.'
Well, golly, given (2), I have no idea how (1) could possibly be the case.
"If someone exploded a bomb on his body, he would be right to do so unless the British government apologizes and withdraws the 'sir' title," ul-Haq said."
Yeah, go ahead. As long as you blow yourselves up by yourselves, away from other folks, I think it's a great idea.
Can you not see the contradiction in your statement?
Or is it that you believe that bombs are justified, while we believe that they are not?
So let me get this straight...you are pissed off that the UK knighted a writer who disagrees with your religious beliefs, so your solution is to threaten violence...and then you wonder why non-Muslims think Islam is a violent religion?
Fuck you, fuck your fairytale god, and fuck the camel you rode in on.
Just for the record, the bit the Muslim hard-liners have a problem with comes from Rushdie's fiction novel The Satanic Verses . In the book there is a dream sequence in which some unflattering things are written about Mohammed. Oddly enough, the character who has the dream is very upset by it, and the book makes no claims that the dream sequence represents an accurate depiction of Mohammed. The book is not really very political, and although spirituality is a big theme in it, it does not present Islam in any worse of a light than it does Christianity or Buddhism, both of which are prevelant in the story.
Thanks, sandman.
The original fatwa (or what the money on his head is called) is almost 20 years old, I think. Even back then, I am sure the uproar in Iran was incited out of political reasons. Think danish caricatures.
And this guy is very cartoonish indeed. He is freaking minister!
Ye gods, someone needs to learn to relax... I'm told that blowing your load works fine for that, you might want to try it, Mo'.
Wonder if one of these anti-Rushdie fundies ever stops frothing at the mouth long enough to realize that if they hadn't kicked such a stink about his book Rushdie probably wouldn't have had one tenth of his notoriety...
Sophie:
"Err... this guy wants to show that the accusations of certain Muslims being extremeists/terrorists are false by... bombing someone?
That's supposed to make sense? o.O"
I think he's saying that it isn't extremism /terrorism because he believes 'it's the right thing to do'.
Jees this guys comments have bombed on this site.
Of course it's to be expected. There's muSLIM chance of winning anyone over with that attituide. Such a blatant contradiction is logical suicide. I think this guy should be turBANNED from making any more extremely intolerant explosive outbursts
That's all i got for now, but be sure to check back later in case i find out how to make something funny involving the law that you can't eat pork and the name mohammed having ham in it.
As long as they're not hurting anybody, what other countries do is none of your business. Fine, you can protest, but you can do so NONVIOLENTLY. Ever hear of Mohandas Gandhi, Cesar Chavez, or Martin Luther King Jr.? Believe me, that would have much more positive consequences in the long run than your monstrous habit of blowing yourselves or others up.
The West is accusing Muslims of extremism and terrorism.
With such shining examples as you and others who think like you, I wonder why. Not that it's fair to normal, moderate Muslims, but contrary to what you think, you're not helping them in any way. Grow up.
Confused?
