Reality disagrees; most inmates in prison are christian or moslem, with self-avowed atheistis making up less than one percent of the prison population.

*sigh* Atheism doesn't tell people anything. People who do not believe in a higher power (for whatever reason) are simply classified as atheist. That's all it means, nothing else.
Atheists generally feel that since this is our only life we should not waste it. Sitting in a jail cell is wasting it. Christians believe that even if they spend their lives in jail there will be an afterlife and all they have to do is ask for forgiveness in order to go to Heaven. Child molesters, however, are people who have a sickness in that they put their satisfaction over the child's future mental and emotional stability and they are unable to control themselves knowing that there is a high chance they can be caught and jailed. Such a person doesn't molest or not molest simply based on person beliefs.
As for your third statement, a complete fabraction on your part as there are less atheists than Christians in the American prison system.
1. You are doing religious folk a grave disservice by implying that the only thing stopping them from committing these crimes is the threat of divine judgement.

Uh, hate to break this to the fundies, but I teach in a prison, and I've yet to meet one athiest in prison. On the contrary, Church attendance is high, and most all of my students are fundamentalist Christians! They have explained to me that why they, convicted murderers and drug dealers, are going to heaven, god will punish evolution believing gays.
I find it fascinating that I'm an atheistic sociopath but I've never done so much as get drunk. It amuses me that fundies don't believe that there's such a thing as "doing the right thing" unless there's some divine reward or punishment promised. Uh, first of all, unless the laws and courts are only there for religious folks, atheists have plenty to fear when committing a crime.
Second, atheists have never started wars, they don't molest children and then have other atheists pay to cover it up and move the offender around without punishment or without informing the proper authorities.
Third, most prison inmates are Catholic, at 39%, with Protestants making up 35%. That's a population professing to be Christian of 74%. Atheists only make up 0.2%
A little light reading to hammer that point home for you, not that you care about facts when you can just spout hate and make shit up to make yourself look good.
