Statistics show otherwise. In twelve annoymous random target surveys conducted between 1990 and 2006, the donation percentage was 44.5% to 55.5% (with a 1.5 point level of deviation) in favor of atheists.

When you don't think there is an afterlife so your only chance to create a lasting legacy is in the here-and-now, life becomes more precious. Wouldn't that make an atheist more prone to giving and acts of kindness?
Also, I've never met a single selfish atheist in my entire life. Certainly I met one who considered self preservation an important thing, but most of the toxic, rude, and generally disagreeable people I've met were religious- most of whom were either Catholic, Protestant, Baptist, or Lutheran.

Charity wise? Yes. That's what happens when there are over 33,000 christian denominations. However, most of the private donators (aka: non-corporate) are atheists. Why you may ask? Probably because they care and the first charity they found out about happens to be a religious one. They just aren't being picky. All that matters to them at the time is that their donation helps people in need.

If your a bigot or an idiot, you'll certainly be attacked on these forums. See, atheists, in not being bound my religion, are (in many cases) more open to universal rights. Christians tend to be anti-homosexual, anti-science, etc. Many atheists don't believe that Jesus existed, so what? It's their right. It isn't your right, or the right of anyone for that matter, to attack innocent people just because they're different than you.
Say, one more thing: ever notice how Jesus is often held in high regard when he's brought up? The idea of him, what people think he was like, was a good idea. It was an idea of compassion and forgiveness.
The key problem Atheists have with Christians really stems from the fact that Christians say they follow such a man, but they don't act on what they say and often refuse to follow the high moral example of their Savior.

Now, moving on from that, what's wrong about caring for animals? They think, have emotions, everything. Really, aside from the fact that they can care for themselves, they're like children in that they're so full of emotion. Last time I checked, there's nothing wrong with caring for another sentient being.

Actually, given that some portions of Christianity state that the poor "sinned themselves into their state of depravity", thiests should be more likely to not care for the poor. Atheists have no indocrinated descrimination against the poor and thus must act upon personal morality.

See, I've always gotten the impression that many Christians are arrogant. The fact that they refuse to accept things like man-caused Global Warming, the fact that homosexuality isn't a choice, and multiple other things isn't helping your case to cast Christians off as "good listeners."

Islam promotes peace far more often than Christianity (if your now confused about Terrorists, check out Pakistan's re-education program. Most people give up on the "jihad" once they find out it wasn't actually religiously sanctioned). Satanism promotes spiritual harmony and good deeds based upon merit.
