Christians, would you rather your child became a Muslim or an atheist?

(Her Answer)
As a devoted Southern Baptist, and more importantly, as a disciple of Christ, I would rather kill my own child (as Abraham was willing to do) than see him convert to either Islam or Atheism.

Southern Baptists and their ilk, so radical that even other Baptists call them bat shit crazy. Hey, did you ever hear of Four Freedoms? What's #4?
Oh yeah:
Religious freedom: the individual is free to choose whether to practice their religion, another religion, or no religion; Separation of church and state is often called the "civil corollary" of religious freedom
Wow really? The last option you picked was pretty drastic. I don't like either McDonalds or Burger King, but I’d rather eat than go hungry.
Child Services need to be called. This person’s children are in constant danger.
I'd love to say that I'm sure Social Services would love to hear this, but unfortunately, the only way they'd be able to do anything is when they fun him kneeling in his living room, muttering prayers, covered in blood. Sad that.
THOU SHALT NOT KILL!*

I thought christ's covenant superceded the Abrahamic covenant of the old testament. And I may be wrong, but christ's covenant is just a copy of the golden rule, so would you want your son to kill you for being a christian?
Of course, the thing is, that by the time it's bad enough you feel you have to kill the kid, the kid's likely already damned. So you're just cutting off any chance for a return to the light and salvations.
As well as, y'know, committing a mortal sin yourself.
Children are a gift from God... but feel free to kill them if they get out of line.
Maybe this is what the Quiverful movement is all about; it doesn't matter if you have to drown a couple if there's another thirteen obedient ones back in the trailer.
Well this is a boring post - oh my teapot! You! Yes, you! Don't EVER breed!
Baby murder aside... gaaah. Is it really so hard to understand that atheism is not a dang religion?
**picks up phone, dials child welfare...**
BTW, how does one "convert" to antheism? Wouldn't that be "deconverting?"
Converting to Atheism: Your 5 step easy guide by the friendly folks at fundies'r'us!
1) Worship satan
2) HATE JEEZUZ D:<
3) Become a muslim darwinist racist.
4) Worship “the false prophet Edwin Hubble”
5) Kill puppies and small children
Thing is, God stopped Abraham from killing his child, and it wasn't to stop Isaac from becoming an Atheist or a Muslim (didn't really exist at the time) but as a test of his bat-shit insane "do it if you love ME!" faith.
...I don't even believe this story and I know it doesn't condone child murder. It's more a turning point in Jewish history when they STOPPED human sacrifice.
Also, which Souther Baptist group do you belong to, because outside rampant xenophobia and homophobia, I never ran into "kill your bebbies for Jesus!" at any of my old churches...
So according to your fucked-up version of the Christian religion, slaughtering your children so they won't deviate from the path you think they should follow makes you more worthy of heaven then just letting them live their own lives? When did Jesus say "Verily, I say to you, if your son or daughter believeth not, then kill the little heathen"? Don't remember that part. You should have your child removed, but we know that won't happen. Hope I don't see you on the news.
You're nuts, Fisher.
And I don't have anything against Muslims, but I disagree with a good chunk of the Koran - so I'd rather my kid became an athiest whose morals were guided by the humane application of reason, than see him leave my faith for one with values and beliefs that are alien to me.
Selfish of me? Maybe - but it's what I think.
You don't even read the Bible well, apparently. Abraham sacrificed, correct, WAS ABOUT TO SACRIFICE his own son because God specifically asked him to to test him, not because Isaac had done anything wrong. Therefore, your analogy isn't very appropiate.
Second, as a Christian you're supposed to love people UNCONDITIONALLY, even your own enemies. No fucking sense then, to kill your own children for something that God, almighty as he is, doesn't do.

It's the Redshirt theory. Have one or two there just to show the others the mortal danger they're in.
The greatest commandment - Love your neighbor as yourself*
(unless they're not Christian, in which case kill their ass!!)
Apart from the misunderstanding of the story of Isaac(he was not meant to be killed because he was a test from God), which part of unconditional love you don´t understand?, or love thy neighbour, for that matter?. So, as a disciple of Christ, you fail miserabily, for you´re unable to understand his most basic principle.
Here in Germany, we had a real incident where a devout christian fundie father stabbed his son to death, because his son wanted to quit religion.
This fundie father is now in prison for life. He hasn't the slightest feelings of guilt. He still thinks that he is completely justified "because God told him so".
It's scary, but these fundies are a real threat. This fundie may really mean what he says.
as far as I remember, Isaac never became a muslim or an atheist. So, what about dodging, THOU SHALT NOT KILL?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
