I spent three years in an Australian faith school and they WERE like this. Yes, they were polite about how they said it, and, yes, they were quite nice.
But, that doesn't make saying "When you die you're going to burn in horrible fires for the rest of eternity because you don't believe in Jesus!" to anyone, especially four-year-old kids, ANY LESS FUCKING TERRIFYING.
Not suprised? NOT FUCKING SUPRISED? The fundies in Australia make up the entirety of the religious population, not a small amount -- this makes the whole situation WORSE.
Did you hear that? In Australia, the SITUATION WITH RELIGIOUS LUNATICS IS FUCKING WORSE, IF ANYTHING. The school I went to even used to CANE little kids -- with a paddle that said "Jesus Loves You" on the side.
That's right. In the State of Queensland, kids STILL get the cane in PUBLIC SCHOOLS, there is NO separation of Church and State (there is, though unofficially, in Britain), and they EXPECT YOU to turn up to the Sunday church service.
The situation in Australia is FAR FUCKING WORSE -- how CAN you be suprised at what a Baptist minister said when you say it yourself and do so much more? Sure, they're Jews, not Christians, but what I say still holds true (although it differs on the matter of Jesus, of course).
In other words, Queensland is full of fucking religious lunatic cunts, and the situation is so much worse that if you say "Suprised", I say "Bullshit".
