If Christianity is not true then it is a massive fraud and hoax perpetrated by evil men bent on making the world a place where Christ’s commandment to ‘Love thy neighbor’ reigns supreme, which is the antithesis of the criminal mind, and hence the theory that Christianity is a fraud is entirely incompatible with logic and human nature.

Oh, you mean "love thy nieghbor, unless they pray to a different god than you, in that case they must be dealt with uncerimoniously, 'specially if they're queers"...
dumbass.
I don't think Christianity is a "massive fraud". Deluded ignorant people who wrote the scriptures probably did believe what they wrote was true and accurate at the time.
The problem is that these days, it can easily seen (to people who can think logically etc) that many of the claims of Christianity are obviously false. Why other people continue believe it is a mystery to me.

No, no matter what angle I look at this from it makes no sense.

Oh, hang on - um....
I think I have it...
Damn, no, it wrested itself free and swam briskly away.
However, I can't bring myself to believe I missed anything of importance.
"If Christianity is not true then it is a massive fraud and hoax perpetrated by evil men"
"Christianity is a fraud is entirely incompatible with logic and human nature."
I agree. Christianity is a fraud and hoax perpetrated by evil men and is incompatible with logic and human nature.
Shitcan the bible, and keep that old hippie in your thoughts. You may just catch a clue.
Are you a doctor like Dr Pepper is a doctor?
They have a link to a porn site in their 'GODS HIT LIST!!!' I suppose in case you really need to have a good, hard think about it.
Also, 'Aaron Russo (God won - died of cancer!)' is Fundieness in a nutshell.
If Christianity is not true then it is a massive fraud and hoax perpetrated by evil men
False premise, hence the rest of the argument is nonsense.
It's not very cogently expressed, but the idea is pretty clear once you clean up the verbiage:
1) fraud on a scale this massive would be the work of evil people; 2) Christianity, along with its creators and leaders, is good and kind; 3) therefore it can't be a fraud.
The logic is fine. The problem is the second premise is at least partly false, as Efrain points out in the first comment. (The first is arguable, too, I would say, but that's a different debate.)
Kennedy, you ignorant SOB. The point is not to spread the Christian message of "Love thy neighbor" - the point was to spread the political and financial influence of the church across as many countries as possible through the constant threat of eternal damnation should people/leaders not do the church's bidding.
THAT is the massive fraud and hoax of the Christian Church.
Believe me, if the love thy neighbour were the honest aim of fundies today, I'd shut my mouth right now.
Except that it's not, and I won't.
What do you mean, "if"? And the world would be a place of torment, witch burnings, and the return of the Inquisition. You don't practice "Love thy neighbor" at all -- you add qualifiers.
Christianity is indeed a massive hoax, perpetrated by evil men, bent on making the world a place where non-Christians (including the "wrong kind" of Christian) live in fear of summary execution simply for being "against gawd", which is the epitome of criminal thought, and hence the claim that Christianity is "good" for you, and promotes morality, is entirely incompatible with logic and human nature.
Some of the loudest sections of Christianity seem to be anything BUT 'love thy neighbor'. As for the rest, Christianity is not a massive fraud, but a series of frauds committed over several millenia, along with the incredible defamation of a man who died in Jerusalem 2000 years ago.
Holy crap...the rest of the site is rife with material for FSTDT. Topics include:

The absurdity of atheism
ACLU and the Communist Agenda
Stay tuned...I suspect we may be hearing from Dr. Kennedy again sometime soon.
Yes, it is. I'm glad you realize that Christianity is a massive fraud and hoax. However, the "love thy neighbor" schtick wasn't the goal. Profit and power was.
Want an example aside from the Crusades? The Conquistadors colonizing Asia and the Americas.
From searching for that Kennedy quote (I heard of him before but wanted to see other sources besides the blog) and found this from one of his obits:
"For Kennedy, of course, the injunction to "love thy neighbour" did not apply to homosexuals, pro-abortionists and liberal judges (among others), though he reserved his sternest fire and brimstone fulminations for "educators in our public schools" who teach evolution."
And I agree with #855099. Does God have a vendetta against mimes or something?
Love thy neighbor...unless they're queers or heathens.
And since when does logic enter this argument? Logic has nothing to do with religion. It is the antithesis of religion. Religion is based purely on faith, and faith cannot exist at all without throwing logic out the window.
No, Christianity is run by evil men bent on making the most money that they can from and by misleading simple people. 'Love thy neighbor' is the last thing these evil jerks have on their mind. The whole set-up is run by criminals.
And, in any case, 'Love thy neighbor' is only trotted out when it suits you. Normally, it's kill this, hate that, send this to hell, that's a sin, he's wrong, she's sinful, he's full of demons, she's a witch, attack them, bad-mouth those, burn this book, pull down that sign and generally being a pain in the backside to all and sundry.
'Love thy neighbor' my arse. Who do you think you're kidding Dr. D. James Kennedy? What are you? A Doctor of bullshit.
"... hence the theory that Christianity is a fraud is entirely incompatible with logic and human nature"
Behold, Kent Hovind v2.0, 'Verbose'!
This is obviously a smart man preaching to a stupid audience. In a theocracy, while the principles of a religion might be good, their execution and enforcement could be nothing short of despotic.
Those who wrote the bible did not begin a religion with the intention of duping people. It was a way of understanding the world around them. So it only makes sense that the bible has a few good nuggets of philosophy to offer humanity.
Now that humankind has so much more information available about the world, it is fraud to promote and insist on ignorance. The nuggets can remain, the myth needn't survive.
I won´t say anything about the beginnings of christianity, about Jesus himself (if he existed) or at least those who believed in the idea of a Christ (if Jesus in fast was to be taken as some spiritual being, not a real human)...
fact is however that christianity son became a business in which some denominations tried to domninate the other ones.
Namely the pauline christians, which finally were victorious (and are the base of catholic as well as evangelical faiths). And at the latest during the 4th century AD, when (pauline) christianity was instituted as state religion it actively persecuted other christian denominations and burned books, just because they differed from pauline doctrine. Not much love thy neighbor anymore in these times ;)
So, even if I don´t say anything about earliest christianity, what we have now is the result of power struggles, of people who used faith to dominate others and of people getting persecuted because maybe their faith differed a little bit from pauline doctrine.
In fact because of this I also am not able to say anything about original christianity (in the 1st century AD) as christianity that we have now might have been twisted from this original faith and the real original christianity might have been one of the early christian denominations, that succumbed to pauline christianities pressure (like gnostic and jewish christianity) with most/all of its books burned, so that only those few traces remained from it, that found entry into the books of the new testament that we use now.
"If Islam is not true then it is a massive fraud and hoax perpetrated by evil men bent on making the world a place where Allah's commandment to Love thy neighbor’ reigns supreme, which is the antithesis of the criminal mind, and hence the theory that Islam is a fraud is entirely incompatible with logic and human nature"
Tell me James,- does this reasoning convince you?
So, it's insane to think that Christianity is a worldwide fraud, but it's ok for you fundies claim that evolution is a worldwide fraud? Yeah, that makes a whole lot of fucking sense.
So looking at the hit list on there, god is defined as having won at someone's death, even if they died peacefully of old age (Charles Darwin). Now, given he's dead too...
Two completely opposite views proposed in one single convoluted sentence: way to put an argument across, 'Doctor' Kennedy. This one paragraph shows that you are entirely incompatible with logic.
Fundies, of course, are directly opposed to most of Christ's commandments, particularly to 'Love thy neighbour', which is why they so vociferously express their hatred for those who don't agree with them.
fergus
Christ’s commandment to Love thy neighbor’ reigns supreme, which is the antithesis of the criminal mind
And whoever heard of a criminal or a cult leader saying something without sincerity?
"If Christianity is not true then it is a massive fraud and hoax"
If you had stopped here, you'd have been fine.
If "Love thy neighbour" was the only commandment you people were trying to force on everyone, we wouldn't have nearly such a problem.
However, you are also trying to tell people that it's not ok for some of them to love each other, that they can't do what they want with their own bodies despite it not hurting anyone else, and so on.
My, what a simple world you live in.
And right in the middle there, you went and assumed.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
