[Judge Doumar enforces an 8-foot height restriction on objects at celebration, thereby prohibiting a 12-cross.]
District Judge Robert G. Doumar is exhibiting religious bigotry in the worst form. He should be ashamed of himself but we know he won’t. Shame shame shame. Can't we do better? Of course

D. Kent is exhibiting stupidildoitis in its worst form. Height restriction usually exist because of low ceilings and similar practical reasons. Kent should bring his 12-foot god-phallus and pray to have it miraculously fit or pass unnoticed. Then we'll see how powerful his faith is. And if it fails, then obviously (good fundie rationalization here) he JUST DIDN'T BELIEVE HARD ENOUGH!
Why would you need a 12 foot cross anyway?
Or, at least, what can a 12' cross do that a 8' cross can't?
According to the article, this particular christian group is suing the city of Chesapeak.

“The city has no objection to crosses,” he said. “There’s a reasonable and rational basis for height limitations based on safety concerns.”
Good luck there guys. I seriously doubt you'll win your case.

You do realize that there are people out there who will KILL you for beloning to a faith other than their own, right?

Ashamed of what? You can still have your celebration, and you can still have your 8-foot cross.

I would really, really love to see you try.
Update: the fundies lost.
Also, they were told they could carry the cross in the parade (which they also wanted to do); they just couldn't put it on a stationary mount.
Talk about people with chips on their shoulders ...
If everything else has to be 8 feet or less, the judge is saying that the cross cannot be treated special and must be within the guidelines.
Your problem is that you aren't being allowed to be special or outside the rule. Too bad.
Just build a smaller cross, idiot.
It's not bigotry if the height restriction applies equally to everybody, which it does.
My cross is bigger than your cross.
But, you know, size doesn't matter :P.
Dude. It would've been prohibited if it had been an Islamic symbol, a Neopagan symbol, or anything else--because it was four feet beyond the limit that the judge had imposed!
Now whittle it down just a couple of feet and you'll be fine.

"reasonable and rational"
Ay, there's the rub. Who needs logic when you have faith?
A couple of you have mentioned whittling a litle bit off the top, so to speak. Hahahahaha - circumsising the cross, I love it!
What amuses me is that the "cross" is a execution instrument of unbelievable cruelty.
What sort of party barring halloween is it appropriate to put one up?
Also, something tells me Jesus won't be pleased if he comes back and finds a whole bunch of people wearing tiny models of how he died.

You're...serious. He's oppressing you so horribly by saying that you can't have crosses over 8' tall during your festivities?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
